Glen Painter
WELLFORD, SC-- Glen Painter, 80, of 168 Forrest Street, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at his home. A native of Jackson Co., NC, he was the son of the late Reubin A. and Cora Mathis Painter. Mr. Painter was retired from J. P. Stevens and Truck Stops of America.
He is survived by a son, Jeff Dowda of FL; two daughters, Judy Anne Burrell (Tommy) of Spartanburg and Collette Painter Gosnell of Startex; one brother, Frank Painter of Greer; four grandchildren, Amanda Brookshire of Lyman, Preston Owens of Landrum, Chris Dowda of FL and Jessie Dowda of Columbia, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Roy, Lloyd, Bill, and Jack Painter; and a sister, Selma Painter.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 25, 2010, at The Stribling Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at The Stribling Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Julia Painter, 195 Spartanburg Road, Startex, SC.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
