Ferguson, Sr.
AHOSKIE, NC-- James C. "Tee" Ferguson, Sr., 60, passed Friday, October 7, 2011. "Tee" was born November 3, 1950, in Spartanburg County. He was the son of the late Andrew E. and Mary Rhodes Ferguson. "Tee" was reared by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Nettie Sue Foster Rhodes.
Ferguson was a graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Ferguson was a former South Carolina State Legislator and a former South Carolina Circuit Court Judge. He was co-owner of MedCare Equipment and Supplies, LLC, of Ahoskie, NC.
Hertford County, NC lost a true soldier. Ferguson was an advocate of improving life and creating business opportunities for his community.
Ferguson is survived by his loving family: his devoted life partner, Paulette Watson; his children, Tara L. Meadors, James Cleveland "Tee" Ferguson, Jr. and Stinson Woodward Ferguson, Esquire; his grandchildren, James Cleveland Ferguson, III, Jalen M. Meadors, Damihje J. Ferguson, and Jordan W. Ferguson; his brother, Marshall L. (Ria) Ferguson; his sisters, Jessie Pearl Ferguson, Beatrice F. (John) Lyles and Rev. Sylvia Ann Ferguson; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; four special people (they called him granddaddy), Sergio, Anthony, Quan and Kameron; colleagues; friends of Ahoskie, NC and Spartanburg, SC.
Ferguson was predeceased by: siblings, Willie Lee Ferguson and Margaret Rhodes; and his aunt and uncle, Corrie and Scott Wofford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 3:00 pm at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Lyles, 223 Spirit Drive, Dorman Meadows, Roebuck, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Citizen Scholars Program, c/o The Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, or to The African American Policy Council, Post Office Box 741, Ahoskie, NC 27910.

Mr. Ferguson was truly a wise an noble man. He had a heart that was for equal and fair treatment of all people. I met him when I first started working in business development. AS A CHILD ATTENDING CORNORSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH ,I WAS A OBSERVER OF THE FORMER JUDGE FERGUSON AND HIS FAMILY.HE LOVED HIS CHURCH,FAMILY AND DESIRE TO HELP ANYONE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.A MAN WHO WAS EDUCATED IN WOODRUFF PUBLIC SCHOOLS MOVED TO WOFFORD COLLEGE AFTHER HIGH SCHOOL ,AND FURTHER ENHANCED HIS INTELLECTS AT USC-COLUMBIA SCHOOL OF LAW.AS A CHILD I ENJOYED WATCHING HIM DISCUSS ISSUES.HE WOULD LEAVE YOU WITH THE KNOWLEDGE TO THINK AND WEIGH THE SITUATION AT HAND BEFORE YOU VOICE YOUR REACTION.MR.FERGUSON WAS FAMOUS FOR HIS CRISP,WRINKLE FREE SUITS,GLAMOURS CUFF LINKS WITH MATCHING SHOES AND LASTELY HIS FAMOUS LOWER TIGHT VIBRANT LIP SMILE'HE WAS ALWAYS WITH A SMILE.A MAN GONE TO SOON IMPACTED MANY FROM WOODRUFF RESIDENTS AND THROUGHOUT THE US.NEVER HAD ANY SHYNESS OF HIS LIFE ,AND HE NEVER GAVE UP.HE CONTINUED HIS DESIRE TO ASSIT MANY ORGINIZATIONS,AND THE INDIVIDUALS OF NEED.HE NEVER FORGOT HIS HOMETOWN WOODRUFF.I HAD THE OPPERTUNITY TO SEE HIM A YEAR AGO,HE WAS DEEP IN RESEARCH,BUT MOTIONED FOR ME TO APPROACH HIM.HE WAS ON HIS GAME OF KNOWING WHO I WAS AND REQUESTED UPDATES OF MY LIFE AND FAMILY.WE DISCUSSED HBCU SCHOOLS AND HE WAS PROUD TO KNOW MY DAUGHTER WAS A HBCU STUDENT IN SC.HE WAS UPDATING ME OF ESTATIC GOALS HIS CHILDREN HAD MET,AND THE FURTHER CHALLENGES HE WISH FOR THEM TO ACCOMPLISH.HE WAS A TRUE LEGACY.OVER THE YEARS AS MY FAMILY HAD DEATHS IN THE FAMILY,AND FRIENDS HAD FAMILY MEMBERS TO PASS,IF HE KNEW YOU HE WAS THERE.I ONLY HAVE POSITIVE MEMORIES OF A MAN WHO WANTED OUR CHILDREN TO FOCOUS ON EDUCATION AND USE IT TO GAIN A STABLE CAREER.AS I WATCHED THE FORMER JW.WOODWARD,HE ALWAYS HAD A WAY OF COMORTING THE FAMILES IN HIS UNIQUE WAY,EVEN IN THE EARL ALEXANDER DAYS,HIS DAUGHTER KAY WAS ALWAYS WITH HER DAD WITH DISTINGUISH,LOVE,KIDNESS AND POISE TO ALL.FROM THE PASSING OF TEE,IT IS A LESSON LEARNED.TELL YOUR LOVED ONE'S DAILY YOU LOVE THEM,FORGET THROWING OUT THE BAD,AND FOCOUS ON THE GOOD AND THE ESTATIC LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO COME. Tee will be missed greatly. His love was contagious, real, and everlasting. I shall cherish all of the sound advice he gave to me--- and others who were close to him...and not so close to him. More importantly, he LOVED all of his children and family...Rest in Peace!

Tee, besides being my cousin, you were like a brother and a great friend. I enjoyed all our conversations whether it was politics or just family chit chat. I still have a few bruises from our days of Hooping at the YMCA. Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget. I'll surely miss you.

I remember when I first meet Tee, he have me my first job, right out of college. I was his first secretary. He taught me many things while employed with him ... things that I will not soon forget.
