WOODRUFF, SC-- John William "Bill" Westmoreland, 50, of 700 River Road, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008.
A native of Woodruff, he was the son of Gerald and Julia Greene Westmoreland of Woodruff and the wonderful husband and companion of Jeanne Hollingsworth Westmoreland of 26 years. He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and was an employee with General Electric in Greenville as machinist.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Westmoreland of Woodruff; maternal grandmother, Alta Lorene Hart Greene Jennings of Inman; mother-in-law, Jean Blackwell of Greenville; an aunt, Daurice Snow and her husband Joe of Woodruff; two uncles, Dr. Thomas Westmoreland and his wife Dianne of Spartanburg, Robert Westmoreland and his wife, Jan of Woodruff; two nephews, Ross and his wife, Amy and their daughter, Kelsey and Drew Westmoreland; one niece, DeAnna Smith and her husband Nick; first cousins, Barry Snow and his wife Susan of Moore, Roger Snow and his wife Dena of Woodruff, Pat and Karri Westmoreland, Casie and her husband Jason Foster, Molly and her husband Jason O'Dell and Ben Westmoreland; second cousins, Daniel, John Thomas and Stephen Snow, Layla Estelle Foster and Steven O'Dell.
He is also survived by two great aunts, Beatrice Burdette, Minnie Lancaster, and her husband Sam, and a great uncle, Bill Hart and his wife, Faye.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Pat and Estelle Pearson Westmoreland and Rufus Greene.
Graveside services were conduced Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 4:00 PM at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Daniel Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bill Westmoreland may be made to the Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
