TRYON, NC-- Lillie Davidson Cowan, 92, of 87 Cowan Lane, Tryon, NC, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center in Tryon, NC.Born in Campobello, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Crawford and Ida Belle Wilhelm Davidson. She was the widow of John W. Cowan, who died in 1978. Mrs. Cowan and her husband were the founders of Cowans Grocery in Tryon, NC. She was a past member of The Order of the Easter Star. She was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church in Tryon, NC.She is survived by one son, James W. Cowan and his wife Patricia of Tryon, NC; and one brother, Edgar Davidson of Campobello, SC. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Eugene W. Woody Cowan, John Charles Cowan, Jr., and Janet Cowan Jackson; and four great grandchildren, James Richard Waters, Samantha Jackson, Justin Jackson, and Ian Cowan. She was preceded in death by a son, J. Charles Cowan who died in 1998.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2006 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Dr. Neil Haynes officiating.Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to funeral service on Thursday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The New Vision Building Fund of Tryon United Methodist Church, P.
