Margaret Treadway Obituary
Mrs. Margaret West Treadway of Griffin, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2012.
She was married to Wesley Tony Treadway, "Papa T", who predeceased her in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Dean West and Corinne Brown West.
A native of Pauline, SC, Mrs. Treadway graduated from Pauline High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for over forty years and retired from Griffin-Spalding County Hospital. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Griffin and member of the Magna Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Treadway is survived by four sons, Stan Treadway of Macon, GA, Phil Treadway and wife Jan of Eatonton, GA, Jeff Treadway and his wife Mollye of Macon and Wes Treadway, Jr. of Griffin. She was affectionately known as "Mama T" by her grandchildren, Shea Treadway, Cameron Treadway and his wife Candice, Jay Treadway, Cory Treadway, Ben Treadway, Anna Treadway, Alden Treadway, Margaret Anne Treadway, Kathy Treadway, Alexis Anderson, Grace Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Allie Maria Treadway. Other family members include many nieces and nephews.
Born into a family of ten children, she is survived by two siblings, Virgil Dean West, Jr. of Pauline, SC and Donna Lee West of Inman, SC. She was predeceased by eight siblings, Capt. Hugh McDowell "Mack" West, Louise West Cubitt Hodge, Madeline West Lambright, June West Cline, Birdie West McCullough, Doris Hazel West and Marvin Foster West.
Also surviving are special family friends, Juanita Hadley and Claudia Crawley.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the nurses, caregivers and entire staff at Brightmoor Living Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret West Treadway will be held Monday, September 10, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Griffin First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee and Dr. Bruce Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family 1 hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, 106 W. Taylor St., Griffin, GA 30223 or Brightmoor Hospice, 3247 Newnan Rd., Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mrs. Treadway.

I have heard many stories around town lately of how she fought her illness and defied the odds of survival time and time again; how fitting for the strong woman she was. I'm grateful for Mrs. Treadway. Dr. James Skinner was late getting to the Hospital on Saturday, July 11, 1964. I was born between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00 PM. Mrs. Treadway delivered me and suggested to my Mother to name me Treadway Maines. My Mother dropped the way and named me Tread Lambert Maines. On my 30th Birthday (18 years ago), I called Mrs. Treadway to thank her. I said to Mrs. Treadway, you were the first person to see me in my Birthday Suit and we both laughed. I will never forget what I was told about my birth and how I got my first name. I praise God for the life of Mrs. Margaret Treadway.
