Mattie Ellison Obituary
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Mattie Lelia Foster Ellison, 83, peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 9, 2017 at home. Born April 24, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Willie Foster and Ethel Williams Foster. She was the widow of Clinton Ellison.
She joined Harrison Grove Baptist Church at an early age, where she served as a member of the Usher Board, Vocal Choir, and the Humane Society.
She was retired from Mary Black Hospital.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her daughter, Mattie Foster of the home; her sons, Fred (Sonya) Foster of Spartanburg, SC and Dwight Ellison of the home; her fifteen grandchildren; her twenty-three great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Lula Cohen, Lucile Kelly, Emma Dover and Patsy Fernandez all of Spartanburg, SC; her special niece, Mary Tracy of Cowpens, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Sammie Foster.
A Celebration of the Life of Mattie Lelia Foster Ellison will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Harrison Grove Baptist Church, 299 Harrison Grove Rd., Roebuck, SC. Dr. Rev. Leon C. Rector will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 329 Willow Oak Dr., Spartanburg, SC.

Grandma gone to heaven, One quiet day the angels came and took grandma far away. But in the stillness of the night I could almost hear her say....Dear grandchild i will miss you You mean so much to me.
