Normand Godbout Obituary

SPARTANBURG, SC-- Normand Godbout, 83, a long-time resident of Richford, VT, died at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, SC on January 2, 2007. Normand was born on September 7, 1923, in Ste. Camille, Quebec, Canada to the late Armandine (Savage) Godbout and Ovide Godbout and grew up in the family home in Compton, Quebec, Canada. In 1947 at the age of 24 Normand moved to Richford, VT where he established a General Repairs Shop. He later met Jane Godin of Berkshire, VT and they were married on June 2, 1951. Normand was a hard-working, honest and generous man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Normand had a long and successful career as the Owner and Operator of Godbouts General Repairs Shop on Troy Street in Richford, but above all else he loved and cherished his family. He also had many long-lasting friendships throughout his lifetime and career. Normand worked tirelessly but loved his occupation and was especially fond of welding. Many homes and businesses throughout the Vermont area are beautifully decorated with intricately designed wrought iron works which include fences and gates that Normand constructed. One of the most visible examples of Normands craftsmanship is the Welcome To Richford, Vermont arch over the Main Street Bridge in Richford that was designed and built by Normand during his career.Normand was also a devoted and life-long member of All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, VT. Besides his loving wife of 55 years, Jane (Godin) Godbout of Roebuck, SC, Normand is survived by two children, his son, Greg Godbout of Roebuck, SC and daughter, Denise (Godbout) Senn and her husband, Tim of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Dee (Senn) Akers and her husband Will of Daytona Beach, FL, Jessica Senn of Jacksonville, FL, Chantal Godbout, Annette Godbout and Jacob Godbout all of Roebuck, SC.Memorial services will be held at the familys convenience.Paid Funeral Notice
