I'll always remember "Brew"'s extreme talent playing his bass guitar with the band "APB", which I personally had mostly thought of as standing for "Artimus, "Poet", and "Brew". I fondly still remember his cousin "J.B" (Jerry Brewington) as well from around 1980 and '81 when they'd show up at the Andiron Bar & Grill in Spartanburg, SC to enjoy the rock music scene happening there. Perhaps another particular time and place in 1982 at The Pier Bar in Raleigh , NC that I'll always remember "Bew" at was when I'd gone there specifically to see "APB", and no sooner had I walked in that place I saw Steve Brewington on stage wearing some red "Parachute Pants" that were popular at that time , with his foot picked up to be sitting on Artimus's drum riser as he was sure "motivating over the hill..." rocking out playing his bass to the old Chuck Berry classic "Maybeline"! "Brew" sure could rock 'n' roll as well as play very intensely melodic bass bits like he did in the APB song "It Ain't the Whiskey"! My dear and also deceased friend Allen Woody (also in the APB band around 1986 for a bit) no doubt would've loved "Brew"'s bass playing skills. "Brew" sure always seemed to be a decent and somewhat friendly human being from whatever I'd seen. I miss him and wish his soul and spirit will rest in music forever.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Steve's family and loved ones whoever and wherever they may be. I first heard of his passing from Terry Bratton on Mother's Day and then verified that from a plumber that I knew was his friend on Mon. I only slightly knew Steve from seeing the band he played in around the Carolinas years ago. The Andiron must've been where I first encountered Steve and also "JB". He was always polite and kind, even in some crazy surroundings from what I could tell. I'm so glad that I have the APB album with his beautiful melodic bass lines on it, as well as the memories of hearing and seeing him rock! I know he's now a part of the everlasting rock. May peace and comfort be with y'all forever.

To Steve's family in this time of sorrow I pray that God will give you comfort and peace. I met Steve at Cleveland Junior High in 7th grade. Over the years we crossed paths quite a few times and each time he was still the same Steve. Walking home from school and stopping in at the ambulance service to chat before heading down to my house on N. Church. The nights his band played at the sock hops at Rollerland. I was working behind the grill so I could skate free all week. It cost $.75 to skate if you had your skates that left a whole $.25 to buy a coke cotton candy or one large drink. Knowing Steve, Jerry, Luther, Leroy and Peggy has been a blessed gift to me. Memories I will cherish forever. Today he stands in the presence of God whole, healed, and playing the sweetest tune on his guitar. You will always be in my prayers and forever in my heart Brewingtons.
