Dr. William A. Hammill
CONCORD, NC-- Dr. William A. Hammill 'Bill', 78, of Concord, NC died January 2, 2015. He was born on August 19, 1936 in Cleveland, OH to the late Gordon and Edith Hammill. Bill spent two years in the United States Army before attending Miami of Ohio for his undergraduate degree, Ohio State University for medical degree. He specialized in internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Hammill established his practice in Spartanburg, SC in 1968 and practiced there for 20 years before moving to Florida to work as a Medical Director in the healthcare industry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Hammill.
Survivors include his wife Carol Anne Hammill; son, Bill Hammill (Cam); daughter, Barbara Aguirre (Joe); and grandchildren, Will Hammill (Kaitlin), Bruce Hammill (Alex), Ben Hammill, Kyle Hammill, Brittany Rahe (Dan) and Trey Aguirre .
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Just found out about Bill. So sorry. We had some good times together. He was my doctor but more so a friend for many years while I was living in Spartanburg. I will be thinking of you Carol. Take care.

When my Dad died in 1975, I vividly remember Dr. Hammill sitting on a cabinet in the ER talking to us with tears running down his face. What compassion.
