Phillip Smitha Obituary
Phillip grew up in Mount Eden, Kentucky. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and served on the building and grounds committee for many years. Phillip spent many years farming, running a dairy farm, raising tobacco and beef cattle. After many years farming he went to work and retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet after 25 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his wife of 55 years. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Vickie have spent the winters in Okeechobee, Florida fishing since 2010.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Smitha and Christine (Carlton) Smitha, his brother, Ronnie Lee Smitha and his great grandson, Garrett Wayne Dockery.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vickie (Walls) Smitha, son, Phillip Scott Smitha (Sherwin), daughter, Christina Jane (Smitha) Winans, brother, Shannon Smitha, granddaughters, Caitlin Nicole Smitha, Mahala (Smitha) Dockery (Jonathan), Kylee Marie Winans, grandson, Gabe Stodghill (Shelby), great grandchildren, Avery Tate Stodghill, Tatum Leigh Stodghill, Jaxx Davis McCart and Layla Gale Dockery.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1l:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 2nd at the Mount Moriah Baptist and after 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday. The family invites everyone to stay for a meal after the funeral on Saturday.
