Thomas R. "Tom" Fowler, 88
TAYLORSVILLE

Thomas R. "Tom" Fowler, age 88, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born on Sept. 28, 1936, raised in Fredericktown, Ky., he was the son of the late Joseph Dolor and Mable Wimsatt Fowler. Tom was a Navy Veteran and served as a Morse code operator, a skill he never forgot. During his career he worked at LG&E, Allstate Insurance, Central Insurance and the Jefferson County Sheriff's office, from where he retired. He was a die-hard University of Kentucky fan and longtime sports enthusiast. and never missed a game on the ESPN or SEC channel. In the early years he coached traveling softball teams. Throughout his life he had many good friends. He spent his best days down at his "building" holding court and "supervising" the home canning, sausage and wine making.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherrie Fowler who succumbed to diabetes in 2017; his siblings, Helen Fowler Donahue, Charlie Fowler and Michael Fowler; and his special niece Joanie Donahue.
His survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Mary Ann Riney Fowler; his children Janet Fowler Corum and Steve Fowler and his wife, Kathy; his eight siblings, Millie Royal, Barbara Hamilton, Janie Ray, Pat Fowler and his wife, Celeste, Wanda Fowler, Joe Fowler and his wife, Thelma, Betty Mattingly and Bob Fowler, and his wife, Edie; his grandchildren, Karie Raeuchle Madden and her husband, Donnie, Bryant Fowler and his wife, Erica, and Samantha Fowler; his great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
