Ada Mae SCOTT

SCOTT, Ada Mae (Thrasher) Ada Scott, 95, of Vashon Island, WA, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2014 with family at her side. Ada was born to the late Lowell and Ida Thrasher on April 29, 1919 in Princeton, Idaho. She graduated from Potlatch High School in 1937. In 1940 she married the late Chuck Scott of Palouse, WA. Following his discharge from the Army in February 1946, they moved to Spokane where they made their home for 55 years. In 2011 Ada moved to Vashon to be with her daughter, Charon, and son-in-law Mark. Ada loved people and made friends easily. With a passion for dancing, she and Chuck formed their own square dance club, The Spokan-8-ers. She was a life-long dancer with the Daughters of the Nile (supports Shrine Children's Hospitals), as well as performed and choreographed dances for The Shadle Park Highland Fling musicals, often written and directed by her husband. She was a member of Downriver and Esmeralda golf clubs for over 30 years. Ada and Chuck loved to entertain not only at their home but at their Priest Lake cabin, which they built in 1948, and their place in Honolulu. They hosted one to two parties a month throughout their lives for groups of 20-100 or more family and friends. Following Chuck's retirement in 1981, they traveled to all the continents except Antarctica, often accompanied by friends. Ada will be remembered for her kind, gracious and happy spirit honed since childhood. She loved gentle teasing, rhyming, and silly antics always with a goal to lighten someone's spirit with a laugh or smile. Ada is survived by her two daughters, Charon (Mark) Scott-Goldman of Vashon, and Linda Butler of Pocatello, Idaho; six grand- children: Randall (Carol) Stubbs, Arusha, Tanzania; Rodney Stubbs, Spokane; Shane Polizzano, Portland, OR; Cynthia Holmgren, Everett, WA; Rhonda (Mike) Pierce, Camas, WA; Heather Polizzano, Pocatello; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. The family plans a private gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Vashon Community Care Foundation, 15333 Vashon Hwy SW, Vashon, WA 98070, or your charity of choice.
