Alan BARTON Obituary
May 1, 2022, Alan Richard Barton was called home too soon for some of us, but obviously our Father in Heaven had another plan for him. Al passed from lung and liver cancer, and I am positive he was met at the doors of Heaven by our parents who preceded him in death, his father Edward Leon Barton, Jr. and his mother JoAnne Barton, of Uniontown, WA, and all of his dogs.
Alan was born on February 9, 1954 in Highpoint, NC, and was adopted by the Bartons when he was 5 years old and was raised with their daughter Cathy who was one month older than Alan so they were raised as brother and sister, but Cathy always got to claim that she was the oldest of the two.
When they started school, they always looked out for each other to the point that they would have to be put in separate classrooms so that Cathy would quit depending on Alan and he would quit doing her work for her.
Alan joined cub scouts as soon as possible and excelled in anything to do with the outdoors. He loved camping, swimming, water skiing and snow skiing. He progressed in scouts and by the time he reached high school he earned his Eagle Scout. He was also selected to attend the Boy Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park in Idaho.
Alan attended Mead Senior High School through his junior year and took his GED and joined the U. S. Army. After serving his enlistment he returned home to Spokane to work for Ziegler Lumber Company. He eventually changed fields and went to work for Itron where he worked for 25 years before retiring.
Al met his wife, Belinda, while they were both serving in the Army in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. When he returned home to Spokane, he brought his wife Belinda and young son Brandon. They later had a daughter, Alicia. After being married 20 years, they decided to divorce, but always remained true to each other. In fact, Belinda was at Hospice House with Al day and night. His family was with him when he passed. His sister Cathy who lives in Texas was on her way to the airport to catch her plane to Spokane to say goodbye when she received the call that he had passed. His niece Tara was enroute from Yakima when she was notified of his passing, but she was able to get to Hospice House in time to say goodbye.
Al was a member of the Audubon Park Masonic Lodge.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Edward and JoAnne Barton, his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts & uncles Sara & Pete Lara, Helen & LeRoy Herrington, Fred & June Driggers, and William Driggers.
He is survived by his son Brandon and daughter-in-law Molly Barton, daughter Alicia and son-in-law Brian Kvasnicka and his granddaughter Makayla, the light of his life. He is also survived by his ex-wife Belinda Barton.
His sister Cathy Bronson also survives him as well as her husband Doug, in Kemah, TX, his niece Tara (Sean) Nass, Yakima, WA and nephew Aaron Bronson, Moscow, ID.
Alan is also survived by several cousins.
At Alan's request, there will be no services. If you desire, you may make a donation to any animal rescue in his memory.
