Alex JACOY Obituary

Alex Peter Jacoy, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in the loving company of his wife, Susan, on November 14, 2024. Alex lived a life rich with adventure, accomplishment, and service to others, leaving an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.

Alex had a deep love for the outdoors that defined much of his life. Hunting, fishing, polo, and golf were not just hobbies but happy places where he found joy, camaraderie, and peace. His passion for these activities eventually brought him to Coachella Valley, where he became the General Manager of the Eldorado Polo Club, a role he cherished for over 30 years.

During his tenure, Alex transformed the Eldorado Polo Club from a modest operation with 24 players into the largest polo club in the United States. Under his leadership, the club hosted the prestigious U.S. Open Polo Championship for several years, attracting international royalty and dignitaries such as Prince Charles, Duchess Sarah Ferguson, and the Princess of Brunei. Alex's vision and dedication also established junior polo programs, nurturing young talent who have since become renowned high-goal players around the world.

Alex's colorful attire and ever-present smile became his trademark at the polo matches, where he thrived under the pressures of managing players, guests, and staff. He was a cornerstone of the club, exuding warmth and energy while ensuring the well-being of all involved.

In the off-season, Alex and Susan spent cherished summers in Ennis, Montana. These annual trips allowed Alex to fish to his heart's content, while Susan enjoyed trail rides with her horse and their beloved dog. His love for the outdoors was matched by his skill on the golf course, where he formed countless friendships at PGA West and Shadow Mountain.

Alex's faith was an integral part of his life. He was a devoted member and volunteer at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he found spiritual strength and fulfillment.

Alex is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Susan, along with his nephews Alex and Casey Baker and his niece Angela Baker. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who were fortunate to know his kind and generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the animal organizations Loving All Animals at lovingallanimals.org or The Animal Rescue Center of California at thearc/ca.org.

Alex lived a life defined by love, faith, and a dedication to others. His vibrant spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering joy for life will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

Susan,
Just found out about Alex´s passing. I always enjoyed helping him with his golf car the big red planet electric and some of his fleet at eldorado polo club.
I was talking to one of the previous rangers from mountain/dunes and he asked
about Alex.
So here I am sending this to you feellig sorrow about not knowing sooner.
It was always a joy to come by
and if the garage was open he was tying flies no matter where I was heading I´d stop to chat with my friend. God bless I think I´ll have a little one on one chat with him now.

My husband and I had the tack shop , The Jackson Hole Horse Emporium, at Eldorado Polo Club when it was still in Palm Desert and continued when the club moved to Indio. Alex was a close friend during those ten years. We had so many fun trips with Alex and he always made it fun.
Alex brought success and growth to Eldorado and we all loved those days.
Rest in peace Alex.

I will always remember his kindness for everyone. His love for my homemade cookies and cakes. He used to tell me I should have a bakery shop. I always thought it was funny he had an Oreo stash!
He was amazing during is long battle with cancer. He never complained and always acted like everything was good.
Wish I could be more social and happy go lucky like Alex was. He will be hugely missed at all our family gatherings!
I'm thankful he had a deep faith. He made going to church a priority.
Love & miss you, Alex! Prayers for strength to get you through, Sue. I know you're relying on that every day! Love you, sis!
