Alice KRUGER-JOHNSON Obituary
July 31, 1930 - October 4, 2023
Alice Ruth Kruger-Johnson, 93, of Spokane, WA, passed away on October 4, 2023. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Alice always thought of others before herself and gave without expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Alice had a passion for creating wonderful memories with her family. She enjoyed summer camping trips and family vacations. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends on her backyard deck. Alice also had a talent for sewing and looked forward to meeting with the church quilting group each week. She took up oil painting after her children were all in school and was quite good at still life and landscapes. Alice continued painting well into her 80's. Her children are proud to display her paintings in their homes. She was also an avid sports fan and went to many high school football games at Joe Albi Stadium. Just don't ask what was in her "thermos" when the weather was cold! She was active in Campfire Girls with both of her daughters. She also loved to bowl and was quite good at it.
She was devoted and generous to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, even to the point of calling her grand and great-grandchildren to remind them when Christmas cartoons were on TV.
Professionally, Alice worked for the Spokane District 81 Food Service for 27 years. In recognition of her efforts to promote nutritional education, she received an award in 1987.
Alice is survived by her husband, Paul Johnson, her son Dennis Kruger (Erika Steinhardt), her daughters Cheryl Rowe (Jerry) and Karen Malsom (Dale), as well as her grandchildren Sean, Zachary, Ryan, Scott, Kellie, and Tyler. Bonus granddaughters Santana and Sabrina, and her 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 bonus great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, David E. Kruger.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, located at 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., 99205, where Alice was a devoted member for 69 years.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Alice's memory to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Rest in peace. Your kindness and selflessness will always be remembered.
We will miss you always, Mom, Grandma, and Gram.
