Allen JOHANSEN

July 6, 1948 - August 27, 2023

On the afternoon of August 27, 2023, Allen Daniel Johansen's long battle against Parkinson's ended peacefully while surrounded by family. He was 75.

Born on July 6, 1948, Allen spent the majority of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a graduate of Menlo Atherton High School, the University of San Francisco, and the UCSF School of Dentistry. He retired after 40 years of dentistry in 2015. A beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and dentist, Allen will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Allen was a kind and thoughtful man who cared deeply about serving his community. He had a genuine passion for connecting with people on a personal level and cared immensely about making a positive impact in others' lives. In addition to his dedication to his dental practice, Allen always made time for his family. He attended all of his children's sporting events, performances, and recitals, even if it meant rearranging his work schedule. He was generous with his time and his love for his family was immeasurable.

Music and basketball were two of Allen's greatest passions. He was a collector of all types of music and delighted in immersing himself in his favorite artists' latest albums. Allen played basketball at lunch every day until his first knee replacement and was a lifelong fan of the Golden State Warriors. Allen also had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed reading, playing games and trivia, and researching new technology. He loved to keep mementos of his life, and sharing photos and slides at family gatherings was a particular joy of his.

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rosa Lee; his three children and their spouses, Lauren Johansen and Mark Warehime, Michael and Karianne Johansen, and Caroline and Drew Peterson; his three grandchildren, Bennett, Junia, and Maeve; and his sisters, Evelyn Polando and Marie Hughes, and their families.

A memorial service to celebrate Allen's life will be held at Rockwood South Hill on October 14th at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to join together in his memory.
