Brian ALM Obituary
Brian Roy Alm, 60, of Spokane, Washington, left his earthly body on December 9, 2021, after living with cancer since his diagnosis in June of 2020. Brian was born on January 1, 1961, to James Alm and Janis Neil in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He was raised in Two Harbors and graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1979. Brian's life was filled with adventures both large and small.
As a young man, Brian moved to Texas. There he met his bride Carolyn of 34 years and they were blessed with a son Jacob.
In December of 1998 Brian, Carolyn, and Jacob relocated to Spokane, Washington.
Brian was a person of strong faith and was active in his church. He was part of a Christian rock band in the Spokane area as well as being a part of his church's musical team. He was a great listener and always wanted to hear about people and their lives. People seemed drawn to him. A Celebration of life was held shortly after starting Hospice in-home services where friends could talk to him about how they loved him, instead of waiting until his funeral to talk about how they loved him. It was an amazing experience filled with love.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the MultiCare providers, nurses, caregivers, and support staff that saw to Brian's diagnosis and treatment, and to co-workers and supervisors that supported Brian and Carolyn through his illness. Thank you to Hospice of Spokane for taking care of Brian from the discontinuation of chemo to the end of his life. He was treated with respect, kindness, and caring until the end.
Brian was preceded in death by his father James Alm, step-father Eugene Neil, and sister Susan Alm Bethea. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Jacob, mother Janis Neil of Henderson, Nevada, step-mother Jan Marker Alm of Two Harbors, Minnesota, brother Brad (Debbie) of Two Harbors, AFS brother Christoph Leupold of Zurich, Switzerland, step-siblings, Bette, Warren, Kathy, Nancy, Marcy, Mary, Kurt, Jeff, and Lisa, as well as numerous other relatives, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Spokane at 1 p.m. on January 22, 2022. Memorials may be directed to causes that were dear to Brian. Union Gospel Mission, Hospice of Spokane, or MultiCare Foundations.
