SCHAFFERT, Carolyn J. (Age 66) Carolyn J. Schaffert passed away Sunday September 28, 2014 in Sheridan, WY. Carolyn was born July 14, 1948, to Milton and Joyce Jacobs at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School in 1968. She also attended South Dakota Hairstyling Academy from 1966 to 1967 and later the University of South Dakota and Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA. While working in Sheridan, WY, she met Garth Schaffert. They married in 1981 and made their home in Loon Lake, WA, where she worked at Coors Distributing until 1991. She then spent her time as a stay-at-home mom, volunteering many hours at the local elementary school and as a Girl Scout leader. In 2005 she began working for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and later for Walmart. She returned to Sioux Falls in 2007, while working for Walmart, to care for her father and step-mother Erma. She was creative and artistic and enjoyed quilting, painting, and tending her flowers. She is survived by her daughter Alexandra (Karl) Doran, Cheney, WA; sister Judy (John) Rueb, Sheridan, WY; and ex-husband Garth Schaffert, Loon Lake, WA. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Jacobs. A potluck in honor of Carolyn will be held at Loon Lake School on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00pm.
