Cheryl HAGEN Obituary

HAGEN, Cheryl Lea Nov. 9, 1955 - Nov. 7, 2012 Cherie Hagen went to be with our Lord on November 7, 2012, two days before what would have been her 57th birthday. She is now being born into Heaven. Cherie finally succumbed to cancer after just learning of it in August of this year. Cherie was born in Spokane, WA to Victor and Loyce Close, and was the younger sister to her brothers: Ken Close of Port Ludlow, WA; Jerry Close of Eagle Point, WA; and Don Close of Vancouver, WA. She is survived by her husband Cris Hagen of Simi Valley, CA and sons Scott Hagen of Las Vegas, NV, and Kent Hagen of La Mirada, CA. Cherie was employed by the Bank of America as a Senior Vice President and Senior Operations Project Manager in the Home Transition Services Group where she managed several projects on an ongoing basis. She began her career there with Countrywide Home Loans as a training specialist and quickly advanced into various management positions as she demonstrated her strengths in people and project management. Cherie gained a reputation as a leader, mentor, friend, coach, and "game changer" in the lives of the people whom she touched with her kind spirit and wise heart. Cherie will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, her church, and her friends. At church, Cherie conducted workshops for people in career transition and took personal interest in helping people out of work to find new jobs. Through her employer, she was the team leader for organizing walks for the Alzheimer's Association, as members of her family have been so impacted by this awful disease. Cherie was an avid jogger, dancer, hiker, and fly fisherwoman, and she loved to camp in the High Sierra with her husband and family. Just three years ago she hiked to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. She constantly challenged herself to new achievements on a daily basis, and never was one to rest on her laurels. When she learned of her cancer, she accepted it with a "peace that transcends all understanding", and continued to touch many lives throughout her battle with cancer over the last few months of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Cherie's influence on us will go on forever. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 16 at 2:00pm at the Church at Rocky Peak in Chatsworth, CA, and is open to anyone who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a donation to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Assisting the family with arrangements is the family owned and operated ROSE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION OF SIMI VALLEY, CA.
