Cynthia STECKLER Obituary

Cynthia Sue Steckler, born March 29, 1956, in Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in her lifetime home city of Spokane. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer nearly three years ago, Cindy fought her battle for life with pride and dignity while she maintained her energetic lifestyle and sense of humor.

Cindy was the daughter of Richard Thomas and Delorise Lee (Prince) Allen. Cindy was married to Myron James Steckler in June of 1997, and they have shared a comfortable north Spokane home with their ever-present feline companions ever since.

As a very talented arts and crafter, Cindy was active with her numerous crafting friends. Her handmade gift and greeting cards are usually saved by the recipient as they are far too beautiful to discard. Instead, they often become a permanent addition to their holiday decor for years to come. Cindy enjoyed maintaining the beautiful flower beds that surrounded their home with Myron, and she loaded her gardens with lawn artwork and solar lighting to make them even more special.

Cindy graduated from Lewis and Clark H.S. in 1974 and pursued her career working for 19 years in the mortgage industry, followed by 19 years working as an underwriter in the agricultural crop insurance sector.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Delorise Allen. Cindy is survived by her husband, Myron, and their loving kitty, Lucy; as well as her three siblings, Rick Allen (Sandy), Becci Thompson, Theresa Allen and Myron's siblings. There are also numerous nieces and nephews who were very important to her.

Her family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the many caregivers at the Holy Family Hospital/Providence Group, and also to the wonderful team at Hospice of Spokane.

As per Cindy's request, there will be no memorial service.

Myron,
My deepest condolences to you in the loss of your beloved spouse. May you be surrounded by family and friends as you embark on this journey, and memories of good times flood your thoughts and dreams. It is a long road and we travel it one day at a time.

To Rick, Sandy, Becci and Theresa, I pray for the same warm memories for you. Jon and Cindy religiously sent Christmas cards to one another, and Cindy and I continued that tradition after Jon´s passing in 2020. I am confident they´ve found each other and are once again experiencing that family connection.

Sending all strength and love during this difficult time.

I just returned home today and found the news about Cindy. I am so sorry to Myron and her family about her passing. As a matter of fact I have a card to put in the mail after we got home. I'll keep it as a remembrance. I was lucky enough to teach Cindy how to tole paint years ago, and glad when she resurfaced in my paper crafting group. They will all miss her a lot. She was my partner sitting next to me now for many years. I will very much miss her being the first to show up at the Fairgrounds Christmas Craft Show. You have a lot of my stuff. I kept telling "you can paint yourself". She was good enough. I am incredibly in awe of her strengths. She had such Grace. My heart is with you. Alice
