Danette SCHROER Obituary
was born July 14th 1951 to Henry and Dorothy Marie Burger in Spokane, Washington. She attended and graduated from Shadle Park High school in 1970 before moving to Helena, Montana to attend Carroll College where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene in 1976. After college she returned home to Spokane, Washington and married her high school sweetheart Rick Schroer in August of 1976 and had three children, Ryan, Lisa and Brandon.
Danette worked as a dental hygienist on and off for 21 years for several dentists in the Spokane area while raising her three children and helping her husband Rick run his acoustical ceiling business. Rick and Danette shared 55 loving years together, 45 of which they were married.
Danette enjoyed photography, classic movies and reading countless books. Cooking and baking were a specialty of hers that everyone could attest to. Decorating for all the seasons and holidays to make the atmosphere festive and warm, to make a house feel like a home. Spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and adored. Reading stories, singing and laughing together while babysitting them from a young age. Danette's slice of heaven was Priest Lake, she grew up camping at Indian Creek, and many subsequent summers with Rick as a teenager boating around the lake. Naturally it became a favorite annual summer getaway for them with their three children.
Danette is survived by her two sons, Ryan and Brandon Schroer; daughter, Lisa Barratt; grandchildren Hank, Leila and Aelia; sister, Robin Garbarino; brother, Steve Burger; Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law, Colleen and Mark Mittlesteadt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Schroer, and her parents, Henry and Dorothy Burger.
Danette returned to the Lord on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at the age of 71, after a three year battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed and always remembered for the unconditional love, warmth and kindness she gave us.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18th, 2022, at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center at 11am, followed by a celebration of life for both Rick and Danette from 12pm-2pm.
