Daniel ULREY Obituary

May 4, 1944 - May 22, 2025

Nine Mile Falls - Daniel Bertram Ulrey was born May 4, 1944, to Bertram and Gladys (Liskan) Ulrey in Riverside, California. Dan was raised on "nothing but avocados" in Coachella until 1948 when the family moved to Renton, Washington. Dan graduated from Franklin High School in 1962. After Dan was drafted in 1967, he served in the Army for 1 year, 11 months and 4 days. Afterwards, he found work as a Material Handling Specialist with Rocket Research Corporation (Olin Research Corp.) in Everett. Dan worked there until he retired in 1993.

Dan met the love of his life, Sandra-Jo (Stark) Warden in 1983 and they married on January 12, 1985. They settled in Kent to restore their beloved 1908 two storied Victorian style home. From the time Dan accidently put a drill through his hand (woodworking) to the time Sandy chased him down a hospital corridor in Germany (he was in a hospital gown, IV attached to his arm, determined to leave), Dan and Sandy never left each other's side.

In 2017, Dan and Sandy moved to the east side of the state to Nine Mile Falls, finding a home near Dan's stepson, Terry. Here, they were finally able to build a shop big enough for all Dan's tools, plant an enormous garden to putter around in, and surround themselves with trees.

Dan left us peacefully, May 22, 2025, in his sleep after a happy, full day of doing what he loved best... working in his shop and gardening with Sandy.

Dan never met a stranger, so he leaves behind many friends and family. Missing him most are: his devoted wife of 40 years, Sandra-Jo (Stark); sisters, Maryann Brim of Las Vegas, Carol Ulrey, and Shirley Ulrey of Sammamish. Stepchildren, Terry (Barbara) Warden of Nine Mile Falls, and Janet (Michael) Carrillo of Graham. Grandpa Dan's Fan Club: Rowdy Warden of Nine Mile Falls, Dakota Warden of Seattle, and Sara (Tommy) Gamboa of Puyallup. Dan's sister-in-law, Vicki (Bob) Good of Long Beach, CA; niece, Carly Good of Pasadena, CA; nephew, Michael Good and his children, Paige and Eva of Rancho Palos Verde, CA; nephews, Tom (Kate) Kennish of Long Beach, CA, Boby Kennish and Billie Kennish of Maywood, CA.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 22, 2025, in Graham, WA, and July 4, 2025, in Nine Mile Falls, WA. Contact Terry or Janet for further details.

Sending so much love to the Ulrey family! Mary Ann always spoke so highly of Daniel, and I can tell from the pictures and stories we´ve heard and seen, that he was a wonderful brother and husband, with a fun demeanor and a sweet heart! With love, Lauren and Tara (Jump Twins)
