Daniel VORPAHL Obituary
He was born July 29, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Spokane. He attended Lewis & Clark High School but enrolled in the Army before he graduated. He received his GED while enrolled. Dan was very proud to have earned his Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable with the Boy Scouts.
Dan was the oldest of 4 and the best big brother any sibling could hope for. He didn't have a mean bone in his body and touched the hearts of all who met him. He truly had a heart of gold. If he was your friend, he was your friend for life. Mom would tell anyone who would listen that "he really is a good guy" and he really was.
Dan endured more tragedy than most during his lifetime, suffering two traumatic brain injuries. After the first incident, he was still able to obtain his barbers license and became a beloved barber to many Northside residents. After the second incident, he was not able to return to work but still able to bring joy to all those he encountered, including the nursing staff who was with him on his final days.
Dan is survived by his mother, Beverly Smith Vorpahl, his siblings Timothy Vorpahl (Gina), Janet Vorpahl, Illa Davis (Kevin), and several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father David P. Vorpahl.
The funeral will be a private service for immediate family and close friends.

My sincere condolences to the Vorpahl family. Dan was a great neighbor growing up. I remember him practicing his haircutting on me in the basement of the Vorpahl's house while working towards his barber certification. Dan was always ready to play a game of pool with next door kid. Dan was always best to all that came in contact with him.

Dan and I were in home room at LC. Later on he became my barber at Town and Country Barber Shop on the north side. I truly enjoyed seeing Dan on my trips to get a haircut. An all round great game.

I am so sad to hear this news. Sending my sincere condolences to the Vorpahl family. I will carry and treasure my memories with Dan for a lifetime. He was such a wonderful person and will be so missed. God bless you all.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was very close to Dan in High School. My favorite memory is his little blue VW bug. Once we were on a double date and the car got a flat tire. There was no jack so Dan and my boy friend held the car up while Dan's girlfriend and I changed the tire. He was such a nice, kind man. He'll be missed by all who his heart touched.
