Dave BROOKS Obituary

David Dean Brooks, aged 77, entered this world on August 16, 1946, born to Fred and Edna Brooks. His childhood unfolded on a ranch in Priest Lake, immersed in the vibrant life of the Brooks Clan. Dave's commitment to his country was evident as he served in the Army from 1964 to 1968. Following his service, in 1969, he wed his soulmate, Lorena (Rena) Brooks. The couple initially settled in Spokane, Washington, before relocating to Post Falls, Idaho, where they nurtured their beloved daughter, Desiree.

Throughout his career, Dave contributed his skills to Pacific Trail Sportswear and Penske Trucking. A man of diverse interests, he cherished golfing sessions with friends and family, hunting expeditions with his brothers, friends, and nephews, and the joy of travel across our great country. His passion for collecting record albums and his longstanding membership with the Newport Eagles highlight his varied pursuits. Moreover, Dave was co-founder, with his sister Lois, of the Huggy Bear Foundation, dedicating efforts to provide the community with stuffed animals to bring smiles and comfort. Above all, David's heart belonged to his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Bob, Steve, Bob and Larry (died at birth) brothers by marriage Jim Keeling, Frank Leader, Don Rogers and Jim Franz and three sisters, Joyce Keeling, Betty Leader (Rogers), and Lois Franz. He was also predeceased by sisters by marriage Martha Hendrickson, Dolores Morrow, Jackie Brooks, and Karen Brooks #1.

Dave's legacy lives on through his wife, Rena, after 54 years of marriage; his daughter, Desiree Brooks, son-in-law Brian Bills, and three cherished grandchildren, Justice, Elise, and Henry. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack, and Ralph Brooks; sisters by marriage Susan Yeaw and Marlea Bodecker, Karen Brooks #2; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial to celebrate Dave's life will be held on:

March 23, 2024 at 12:00 pm starting at the Priest River Cemetery, located at 681 Cemetery Rd., immediately followed by a Potluck at the Laclede Community Center, located at 24 Moore Loop Laclede, ID 83841.

Dave was definitely "Salt of the earth" and I will miss him dearly. One of the most generous, hard working, men, I have ever known. I´ll miss his random phone calls in the midst of my crazy day to day where we get to talk about Golf, Zags Basketball, or just reminisce a bit about the good old times. I´ll miss you Dave, very few on this earth like you. Until that glorious day we meet again, rest in peace my friend.
