David McKAY Obituary

David W. McKay passed away on April 11th, 2022 of natural causes at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Lisa McKay. He is also survived by his sister & brother in law Carla & Randy Lancaster of Spokane Washington and her three children (TJ, Lacey, and Steven Parker and their families). He is also survived by his eldest daughter and son-in-law Sasha & Eric Wright and his only grandchild GraceLynn Wright of Seaside Oregon, and his youngest daughter and son-in-law Tashina McKay and Doug Shudarek of Spokane Washington.

He was born June 16th, 1959 in Coulee Dam hospital in Washington to Dennis McKay and Bernadine McKay (Heathman). Dave grew up in Wilbur, Colville, and Creston. He went into the Navy fresh out of Colville High School in 1977. He was medically discharged shortly after due to a muscular dystrophy diagnosis. He returned to Colville for a short time before moving to St. Petersburg Florida. He lived there for a year or so before returning to Colville. He attended Ron Bailey's School of Broadcasting where he completed that program. He had several odd jobs before meeting his wife in February 1989. Dave and Lisa were married on September 10th, 1989 in Spokane Washington. They had their first daughter in October of 1990 and their second daughter in August 1992. Dave was the last-place finisher of Bloomsday for 6 or 7 years. He was also the president and founder of the Cruizers South car club. He was a member of the APA for decades and was also the first male to play lady's pool league.

Dave was many things. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was a jokester, an avid pool player, and loved beer. He had a passion for hot-rods, and music, and was all around a very handyman. He always said he only had three goals in life: to join the navy, own a home, and have children. He accomplished all three and much more. He was far too big a character with far too interesting of a story to get it all done here. What you need to know about Dave is that he loved and is loved as much as any man could hope to be in a single lifetime.

His service will be on April 22nd. The viewing is 10-11 am and the service is from 11-12 pm at Hennessy Funeral Home at 2203 N. Division with interment at Creston Cemetery.

We Had great times in 7th & 8th grades. Dave was a lot of fun to hang around
with. Covid stopped us from seeing each other one last time. It didn't stop us from having a great conversation. We both didn't know it was going to be our last. I've got good memories. My condolences to his family.

Dave, I will miss our conversations about anything and everything that we could possibly think of to discuss and or debate. You are one of the only people I have ever had the privilege to have even wanted to discuss or debate with as right or wrong neither of us got offended we just agreed to disagree. As a veteran I will not say goodbye but instead, until Valhalla my friend.
