David NESBITT Obituary

David B. Nesbitt (68) went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Dave was an example of a man driven by his purpose and faith in God, and an inspiration to all who knew him and was loved and admired by many. His legacy will live on forever through the many stories he shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know him.

Born April 26, 1955, to Donald and Doris "Jean" Nesbitt in Spokane, Washington. Dave was a 1973 Graduate of North Central High School, where he was an all-city running back.

Dave later attended the Ron Bailey School of Broadcast and eventually found his way to the Silver Valley, where he met the love of his life, Chrissy, and you could hear him on KWAL radio or see him at one of the local ski resorts or taking off in a Cessna 172 from Shoshone Airport.

He graduated from the U of I with a degree in business/marketing. There, he announced games for the Vandies in the early '80s on local TV before he and his wife returned to Spokane and began their family. He worked for NCH Corporation for 36 years, taking care of his industrial chemical customers around the Inland Northwest.

Dave loved the Lord. He loved spending his days with family and friends, serving with his church family at One Church in Spokane Valley, and following all of his favorite sports teams - most notably the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Seattle Seahawks. Most importantly, Dave was actively involved in his children's and grandchildren's activities.

He always had people's best interests in mind. He regularly spearheaded booster clubs, local grants, or community outreach programs to make his city a better place for future generations. The impact of Dave's life will be felt for years to come. He will be remembered for his quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jean Nesbitt.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Chris Nesbitt; son, Derek Nesbitt; daughter, Sara Christensen; their spouses, Marie Nesbitt and Chris Christensen, correspondingly, and his four beloved grandchildren, Creighton Nesbitt, Payton Nesbitt, Jens Christensen, and Tenley Christensen, and many more dearly loved family members.

In memory of Dave, a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 21, at 3 pm at One Church in Spokane Valley, located at 15601 E. 24th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99037 with Pastor Will McCain officiating.

Please consider donations to the Hospice House of Spokane, located at 121 S. Arthur St., Spokane, WA 99202, in lieu of flowers or gifts.

I am so sorry about this. He was one of my heroes--I don't think he knew how much I admired him, from grade school through junior high through high school. I ran track with him, played a year of football with him, and just always looked up to him, for his ability as an athlete and just his presence. I was so hoping I would see him at our fiftieth high school reunion this summer. May he rest in peace.

We moved in next to Dave and Chris early 2022 and as younger homeowners we couldn´t have been blessed with better neighbors. Dave was like a dad next door and I could only ask to have know him longer, the definition of a good man.
