Donald BARTH Obituary

Donald Barth of Cheney passed away October 27. He was born in Hettinger, ND to Steve and Ida Barth and was the second youngest of 12 children.



Don moved to Spokane at age 15 and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1960. Immediately after, he enlisted in the Army National Guard U.S. Infantry. After his service, he began college at EWU followed by WSU where he met and married Elaine, his wife of 55 years.



After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he and Elaine moved back to Spokane in 1968. In 1975, he and two partners bought Rod's Electric, focusing on commercial construction. Through the years, they purchased several other electrical companies.



Don served as President of the Inland Empire Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association for 2 years and was their governor for 3 years. He was on the NECA Board of Directors and trained young electrical apprentices with the Spokane Area JATC for 12 years. He also donated his time for Habitat for Humanity home construction.



He is survived by his wife Elaine; daughters Sherrie Hunter and Suzanne Pierce (Brad); and granddaughters Samantha and Tabitha Pierce.



A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 13, at 2:00 pm.

Elaine, I am Don's cousin on the Daum side of the family. I just found this obit and am truly sorry for your loss. I saw you one time at the doctor's office at Sacred heart Hospital. My son was there having his heart checked by Dr. Lang I think. Did Don get any family ancestory done?

A fellow Cross Country and Track runner at Shadle Park, We both ran the 800 our senior year, Hunted together for deer with Ron Tyven in Hunters Wa. Was a good friend , who served his country well.
