Donald LAGROU

1943 - 2022

Donald James Lagrou, 78, of Spokane passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 in Spokane, Washington.

Don was born August 23, 1943 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Henry and Mildred Lagrou, and was raised in Sandpoint, Idaho. He graduated with a Masters from the University of Idaho and worked as a Mechanical Engineer for his entire career. He married Josephine A. Allen on June 19,1971 in Seattle, Washington.

When he was not drafting new engineering projects, Don loved the outdoors. One of his greatest pleasures was salmon fishing, along with cutting firewood, and he spent many happy hours tending to his large garden and caring for the many cows he raised on his small farm over the years. He was a longtime, faithful servant at both Northview Bible Church and Berean Bible Church, as an usher and a greeter, and also served in the Awana program as a Preschool Leader for over 20 years. He was known for his many acts of willing service to family, friends, and neighbors and will be greatly missed by all.

Don is survived by his wife, Jodi Lagrou of Midlothian, Texas; his two children: Connilyn (Chad) Cossette of Midlothian, Texas and Samuel (Christina) Lagrou of Medical Lake, Washington; two grandchildren: Collin and Corrianna Cossette of Midlothian, Tx; and two sisters: Linda (Bill) Norberg of Spokane, Wa. and Barbara Lagrou of Tacoma, Wa.

A Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home (508 N. Government Way) on August 6 at 9:00am with Pastor Alton Shultz officiating, a reception will immediately follow. Afterward, a graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery (5200 W. Wellesley Ave) at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you plant a tree in honor of Don's love of the woods and time spent serving as a fire lookout for the forest service when he was in college.
