Donna Comstock Obituary

Donna J Comstock, aged 71, passed peacefully into the open arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ on August 9, 2018. Donna was born February 28, 1947, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Richard E, Shipp and Elizabeth Plank Shipp. Donna grew up in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania with her brother Craig Shipp of Houston, TX. She lived there until 1966 when she married George Comstock also from Harrisburg. For the next fifty-two years Donna and George devoted themselves to Jesus and each other and crammed as much as they could into the beautiful adventures God planned for them.

People will remember Donna for her love. First of all, she loved her husband. Donna used her God given gifts and talents to fully support the goals of their marriage. Donna and George served together their entire marriage. First in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, Donna was often called to fill in the gaps when George was gone or to help others through times of stress and separation from loved ones. When George was ordained as a pastor, she fully supported George in his ministry and played a leadership role in many different ministries and missions.

Donna was most passionate about family and loved each member equally. She desired her children and grandchildren to know Jesus, love each other, serve others and to take responsibility. She was successful. Her legacy includes one son, Brian Comstock (wife Debbie), and one daughter, Keri Ebert (husband Josh). Her grandkids ranging in age from 13 to 3 include Kennedy Comstock, Kaymyn Comstock, Baylee Ebert, Jonah Ebert, Elijah Ebert, and Sadie Ebert. She loved to watch her grandkids grow and always created opportunities for them to be together and build positive family memories.

Donna lived up to her expectation of loving and serving others. Over the course of her life, she prepared and served meals for thousands in all kinds of setting from mud huts in Africa, homeless shelters, retirement homes, churches, and her own home. She was a leader and then the Director of the Southside Food Pantry from the time of its inception in 1998 to 2013. Three times she traveled to Uganda where she was a leader of women’s ministry to help orphans and widows. Her service made a difference in the lives of hundreds of families.

Donna also loved God’s creation. She instigated traveling whenever possible to see for herself the world He created. She always planned her trips with the detail of a professional travel agent. Her passion for travel drove her to visit every state. One of her goals was to visit every National Park. She would have achieved that if they hadn’t added more recently. She expanded her quest for always wanted to see the most interesting locations by traveling to four other continents.

There will be a public Memorial Service for Donna at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 8, 2018 at Southside Christian Church, 2934 E. 27th Avenue Spokane, WA 99223.

Aunt Donna
I remember being your flower girl. I remember you helping me to swim at a hotel pool. I remember Tasty kakes. Also Auggie Doggie. I remember a broken leg? Your warm huggs and great laugh. Rest in the arms of the greatest father ever, our Daddy God. Till we meet again. Love you and Miss you. I'm sorry I never made it to visit your home.

Donna warmly welcomed our family to Spokane when we moved here knowing no one. It was a great joy working with her at the Food Bank as I watched her give unconditional love to every client. My family will always remember her for the wonderful food she frequently shared and her gift of hospitality. She was a wonderful mentor and friend and she will be greatly missed.
