Duane MURPHY Obituary

Colbert - Duane L. Murphy entered into rest on June 3, 2022, at his residence in North Spokane County. He was born February 12, 1954, to Kenny and Carol Murphy in Spokane, Washington. He attended John R. Rogers High school in Hillyard. In his youth, he enjoyed spending time with friends cruising riverside, roller skating at Pattison's North, and working on muscle cars with his brother Randy and friends, which led to his love for racing stock cars at the fairgrounds. He held a degree of positions at Kaiser Aluminum "Mead Works" for 23 years until the union workforce was locked out in the late 90s. In 1978 Duane joined Spokane County Fire District 9 in North Spokane, as a Volunteer Firefighter/ EMT, a community service which he was passionate about and stayed with until hanging up his gear for the last time in 2004 at Spokane County Fire District 4 in Colbert. Duane loved classic cars and was a long-standing member of the inland northwest car club council until his death. Duane loved spending time with family and friends snowmobiling, camping, and riding ATVs. Duane was preceded in death by his father Kenneth L. Murphy and stepfather Otto Hartman. He is survived by his mother Carol Hartman, brother Randy Murphy, sister Darci Gustafson, and sons Jared Murphy (Darla), Jeremey Murphy (Jennifer), and Adam Lindsey. Duane will also be remembered by his seven grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends. The immediate family will gather for private graveside internment at Riverside cemetery. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 25 at the Spokane Valley Eagles (1130 AM to 330 pm). Donations can be made in Duane's honor to the Inland Northwest Car Club Council "scholarship" fund, or the Children's burn foundation.
