Edward SUMMERS Obituary

SUMMERS, Edward Raymond Edward "Fast Eddie" R. Summers, 61, of Boise, was called home by the Lord, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in Boise, ID after a life long battle with health issues. He was born April 21, 1953 in Spokane, WA to Delbert and Marcella Summers. He graduated from North Central High in Spokane, WA. He entered the United States Air Force in 1971. He married the love of his life Staceia (Moon) Summers on August 2, 1975. Both active in the service, the couple lived at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, TX. Ed and Stace were very active in square dancing before he retired from the service in 1979. Once Ed retired, they moved to Mt. Home AFB where Stace continued her military career and Ed went on to study at BSU where he earned his BA in Business. They were blessed with their son David in 1984. After Ed graduated from college he went on to have a long career in procurement at HP and Jabil corporations. Ed was active in the Hot Rod community and was presented the Master Builder Award in 2000 at the Boise Roadster Show. In 2004, Ed discovered his true passion of becoming an equipment manager for several professional hockey teams. The many friends he met were never forgotten and during his life long struggle with cancer and the toll it took on his body, he still found time to help many through their struggles as well. He is preceded in death by his twin sister, Evelyn "Pink" Summers and his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Stace; son David (Stephanie) Summers; siblings, Del (Pam), Joe (Cheryl), Jim (Debbie), Angie (Greg) and Bev (Rachel); grandchildren, Damian and Kinsley Summers; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Summers Funeral Homes, 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian, Idaho. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at Summers Funeral Homes in Meridian. A graveside service will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Ed, there are no words that can express how much you touched my heart and my life. An example of love and kindness in the midst of suffering. We shared some great laughs, and fruit Mentos! I know I will see you again and for that I am most grateful. George (named by you) the Poinsettia lives on in your memory but this earth will not be the same with out you! Thank you for letting me be a small part of your life, it was one of my most precious gifts.

Stace and family, I am saddened to hear of Ed's passing. Have faith he is in a better place no longer suffering. Reflect on the memories of the love and life you shared. I know how difficult the days will be thinking and missing him. Time is our only friend. Gain strength through the love of those around you still. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am very sadden to see my best friend from High School passed on. Ed and I went thru Scouts and Boot Camp together. Ed, Pinky, and I were inseparable during our school years. Pinky died when I was in Southeast Asia. I have the greatest memories from the Sea Explores to spending the time in San Antonio on the river walk during Base liberty. And the times we went cruising downtown in the 58 ford with no radio and a bottle of cheap wine, oh I miss those times. And the times he worked at to IGA on Indiana next to the Loft and he con me into helping him stock the cooler. The last time I saw Ed was at the 40th reunion, but stayed in touch from time to time as our birthdays were close together. Stacie, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family. I will miss the crazy laugh and crooked smile of Ed's. Ed and Pinky are together again.

My son Tyler played for the Jr Steelheads for 2 years (2010-2012). Eddie was one of the first people to welcome us to the team. He took the time to see that Tyler's skates were sharpened properly and his helmet was working properly. He was very helpful and kind- a top notch guy. He will be missed!
