Eugene Bauer BAUER

Eugene Stanley Bauer, 96, died Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Spokane Veteran's Home. Stan was born June 9, 1929, in Spokane, WA. Stan graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1947. He attended Eastern Washington College for three semesters. He discovered "college" was not for him and went to a trade school to learn to be a machinist.

Stan served in the Army during the Korean conflict 1951-1953. He was in the 89th Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. When he returned to civilian life, he apprenticed at Union Ironworks. He was hired at WSU in 1955, in the Heavy Equipment Engineering Department. He continued to work at WSU for 55 years and at retirement was a Precision Machinist Welder.

Stan was active in the Association of State, County, and Municipal Employee Union for 15 years. Stan was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a founding member of the Fourth Degree Assembly in the Pullman area.

Stan was a lifelong car enthusiast. Notable cars he owned were a 32 Model A coupe, 1960 T-bird, and a 1960 Lincoln Continental.

Stan married Geraldine Atherstone in 1954. They had two daughters. Gerry died in 1964. Stan then married Margene Dohse in 1964. They raised five children together in Pullman, WA. Margene died in 2024. Stan is survived by his five children and their spouses, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, in Spokane, WA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11a.m., August 2, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 440 NE Ash St., Pullman, WA.
