Frances ZIMMER Obituary

Frances Elizabeth (Beth) Zimmer passed away peacefully in Spokane on April 6, 2024. She was born at home in Whitefish, MT, to Mr. Henry W. and Mrs. Frances Irwin. She attended Whitefish schools and upon graduation, she went to St. Luke's School of Nursing in Spokane, WA, where she made many long-life friends. She was a very proud member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. There she met the love of her life in 1946 "Ronnie" Zimmer, at a Natatorium Park dance, and by 1947 they married and moved to Five Mile Prairie to their farm and raised three children. In 1955, they sold the farm and moved to Valley, WA. There they had a larger farm, raising wheat, oats, barley, alfalfa, and Hereford cattle. As a busy farmer's wife, she fed numerous hay crews and cowboys. For work, she was a clinic nurse at Wellpinit Health for 20 years. She always had very fond memories of her Spokane Tribe family. As well as some on-call work as a scrub nurse at St. Joesph's in Chewelah, WA. She retired and moved to Spokane in the summer of 1984. She was a past deacon and a devoted member of Lidgerwood Presbyterian and a St. Luke's Alumni. Beth is survived by daughter, Jean Borchers of Deer Park; son, Bill Zimmer of Spokane; and daughter, Maureen Wood of Newport, WA. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Steve Borchers of Spokane, Julie Zambas of Deer Park, Lisa Kalua of Spokane, and Abby Penn of Spokane. Also, seven great-grandchildren: Allison and Ryen Borchers of Spokane, McKenzie, Gracie, and Olivia Kalua; Hadley and Jordon Penn; one great-great-grandson, Silas Borchers; and numerous nephews and nieces. Special thanks to all the loving care she received the last few years at Grace Family Home with Catherine, Daniel, and Jeff. Her funeral service will be at 11am, on April 20th, at Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, N. 4449 Nevada, Spokane, WA. A burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. Sorry to hear of Beth passing, thoughts and hugs to the family. I loved Beth´s sense of humor and when she would come in the office she would bring me in little trinkets of Betty boop. Such a great lady!
