Frank GRAY Obituary

Frank Gray, a Veteran of the Vietnam War and a skilled general contractor passed away on November 27, 2022, at the Hospice House of Spokane, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old. Born on March 17, 1947, to Frank and Catherine Gray in Four Lakes, WA. Frank graduated from Rogers High School in 1965 and then enlisted in the US Army. After serving his country, he returned to Spokane and worked briefly with the Spokane Fire Department and Kaiser Aluminum before starting his own business as a general contractor. Frank spent over 40 years working in residential construction and was known for his creative craftsmanship, intelligence, and wicked sense of humor. Despite being diagnosed with cancer more than 17 years ago, Frank refused to let the disease slow him down. He continued to work tirelessly, right up until the last few months of his life. Throughout his battle with cancer, Frank remained positive and always showed more concern for his family than for himself. Frank is survived by his wife, Karen of 32 years, his daughter, Zoanne (Greg) Krous, grandson, Alec Haldeman, daughter, Deb (Dave) Daniels, grandson, Sean (Vickkie) Williams, daughter, Deanna (Doug) McAurthur, granddaughter, Jessica Fendall. Stepchildren Rob Hagensen, Steven Fury, Angie Coffman, and grandchildren, Robbie, Megan, Colby Hagensen and Jacob, Emily, and Alton Coffman. Two sisters, Freda Willoughby, and Gloria Birnbaum, sisters-in-laws, Kathy Gray, Gloria Gray, and Mary Lee Gray; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Catherine Gray, his brothers, Fred, James, and George Gray, his sisters, Cathy Gray and Shirley Rhea, and his stepsons, Dennis Pearson and Larry Smith. A celebration of Frank's life will be held on March 17, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane, starting at 11:00 am. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the Hospice of Spokane for their compassionate care and support during Frank's final months. Frank will be remembered as a brave and selfless veteran, a talented craftsman, and a beloved family man who touched the lives of all who knew him.

My Uncle Frank was a great man. Loving and so so funny, oh and his laugh was like no other. You are going to be greatly missed. You are at peace now. May you rest in peace with your parents, brothers and sisters. Love you and miss you.

My uncle Frank was a wonderful man! I could sit and talk to him for hours and I did! Even when battling cancer he was always smiling and joking. I will miss him dearly but his memory lives on. I know he is visiting with my Dad George, his brother and other loved family that has left us. Rest now... We love you.

I will always remember Frank for his great giggle that never failed to make me smile. In fact, all the "Gray" kids had that laugh that was unforgettable. Frankie was kind, generous and extremely smart. I swear he could figure out any building related problem, while doing the math in his head. We will miss him and hope that Frank, George, Fred, Jim, Shirley, and Cathy are all giggling together in heaven. Rest now Frankie, you fought a valiant fight! Love ya.
