George MOON Obituary

George E. Moon Jr., 71, passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1953, to George and Eva Moon.

While in school, George played the saxophone and enjoyed boy scouts. He graduated from Central Valley High School and went on to graduate from Eastern Washington University. Later, he earned a Master's degree at Oregon State University. George then returned to Eastern to receive his accreditation in Library Media.

George was the fun uncle who read history and entertained everyone with his stories. He loved to tell jokes and had a wonderful sense of humor. He shared his honey from his bee hives, which he delivered to fields and orchards, bringing bees to growers. He taught swimming lessons at Terrace View Pool and Mission Valley Pool for many years. He was a teacher and librarian at Summit Elementary where he mentored a chess club. After retirement, he continued to volunteer and read to students.

George spent many years helping his father after the death of his mother. George was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Loretta. He is survived by his sisters, Janece (Duane) and Margaret (Steve); his nephew; and 10 nieces.

George was buried in Riverside Memorial Park on December 20, 2024. A Memorial service will be held at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home on February 1, 2025, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a library and read a book to a child.
