Gerald BAUM Obituary

BAUM, Gerald Lee
(Age 65)

Passed away May 15, 2016. He was born May 6, 1951 at Deaconess Hospital to Russell and Luella Baum. He grew up and went to school in Waitsburg, WA. He married Kathryn December 21, 1974 in Walla Walla, WA were he continued to work during this time as a forklift operator at various processing plants until he decided to move to Spokane. While in Spokane he worked as a mill worker until he found his true calling as a health care giver at Eastern Interlake Hospital. He worked there until an auto injury disabled him, forcing early retirement. He continued to live in Spokane caring for his cats Bear and Fluffy. Throughout his life he enjoyed social gatherings with friends and family, camping, rafting, bowling, golf, watching movies, water sports, playing pool and watching football. Until his health began to fail after a throat cancer diagnosis. Gerald is survived by his son Terry Baum (Cerissa) of Spokane, WA; granddaughter Chandra Baum of Spokane, WA; brother Steve Baum of Spokane, WA and numerous nephews. He is preceded by his father Russell Hosterman Baum; mother Luella Mae (Grove) Baum; brother David Lynn Baum. During this time we would like to give a special thank you to Diane and Mike for their exceptional, loving care, kindness and support during his final few months. We love you Dad, and you will always be in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace.

I miss you so much. You were another one of my uncles to me. I miss going to the 7/11 by your apartment and getting pop when you'd babysit me. I miss playing with your cats with you. Can't believe it's been almost 10 years.

I think of you everyday, missing your laughter and a good pool partner.

TERRY, SWEETHEART... I KNOW THE LOSS OF YOUR DAD HAS LEFT A BIG HOLE IN YOUR HEART AN INWARD DARK SADNESS FOR YOU THAT SEEMS WILL NEVER LIFT OR GO AWAY. TO KNOW HOW THIS FULLY IMPACTS YOU IS IMPOSSIBLE, AS YOUR FATHER'S PASSING IS SO DEEPLY PERSONAL FOR YOU. KNOW IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS, YOUR DAD LOVED YOU AND WAS PROUD OF THE MAN YOU HAD BECOME. YOU DID RIGHT BY HIM. HE WAS A KIND, SINCERE, LOYAL, GENTLE-SOULED MAN AND YOU TAKE AFTER HIM IN THIS WAY AND IN A BIG WAY! WHEN YOU FEEL A NEED TO REACH OUT TO YOUR DAD, DO JUST THAT. TAKE A MOMENT, A DEEP BREATH AND TALK TO HIM. THE LOVE AND WARMTH YOU HAD FOR EACH OTHER WILL ALWAYS BE. LET IT ENGULF YOU AND ENABLE YOU TO GET THRU THE TOUGHIE TIMES AHEAD. YOUR TRIBUTE TO HIM WAS VERY TOUCHING. I BELIEVE THAT YOUR DAD WOULD HAVE TOASTED TO IT HIMSELF! YOUR DAD WILL BE MISSED AND HIS STORIES OF HIS LIFE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN, SO HE WILL REMAIN CLOSE IN ALL OUR HEARTS. HANG IN THERE SUGAR, I AM HERE FOR YOU ALWAYS. YOU WILL FOREVER BE OUR BABY BOY AKA BOO BEAR. ALL MY LOVE, SWEETHEART, NOW AND UNTIL INFINITY AND BEYOND..MOM I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK DIANE AND MIKE FOR BEING THERE FOR GERRY AND OUR SON. YOU ARE AWESOME INDIVIDUALS. MAY YOU ALL BE PERSONALLY GOD BLESSED.
