Gordon SMITH Obituary

SMITH,
Gordon
"Chris"

A fun-loving and feisty man who lived life to the fullest, escaped death three times from cancer and numerous times to auto accidents, passed away after his fourth battle with cancer. Chris was born August 9, 1934 in Bremerton, the only son of Ann and Gordon Smith. He lived an animated and adventurous life. Working as a traveling salesman, he traversed the country enjoying life wherever his adventures took him. On New Year's Eve in 1957 he met Ardie Meske accomplishing the search for the love his life to the disappointment of many women. Six months later, on June 6th, the couple married. After marrying, Chris worked as a salesman in Spokane. He made friends and a lasting impression wherever he went. Along the way, the couple completed their family with two children, Chris and Lisa. After the couple "retired" they opened ACC Inc., a silkscreen and embroidery business. The business was successful and a true example of what hard work and dedication can accomplish. In his free time and after his 2nd retirement, Chris enjoyed meeting up with the guys at the pizza parlor to have a beer, lying in the sun on the beach, harassing his great-grandkids and sharing the stories of the adventures of his life. Chris loved old cars, westerns, woodworking, and repurposing anything he could find. Chris was thoughtful and was always willing to give life advice without judgment but not without humor. Even while ill, Chris made sure to read the obituaries every morning to "make sure he was still alive." So, grandpa, you're in here, now go back to bed. Chris was preceded in death by his father, and wife of 50 years, Ardie. He is survived by his 103-year-old mother, Ann Smith-Babcock of Spokane, WA; his sister and her husband, Cleo and Kent Brennan; his son and wife, Chris Smith and Sheryl Nice-Smith of Clayton, WA; daughter, Lisa Orosco of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Trinity, Jonathan, Lyndsay, Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Makala, Avery, and Mason. The family will be holding a funeral service on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hennessey Funeral Home. Viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on the same day. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park at 12:30 PM, followed by a reception for friends and family at Fieldhouse Pizza (Chris' favorite hangout) where a party will be held on his behalf, as he requested.
