Gregory King MOORE

MOORE, Gregory King Gregory King Moore was born on April 25, 1972, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Fred and Sherri Moore. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1990, continued at Walla Walla Community College, and graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor's Degree in Wild- life Biology. Following college, Greg joined the Asotin County Sheriff's Department. After serving in Asotin, Greg transferred to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and began his service with the dedicated members of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department. During his tenure in Coeur d'Alene, Greg was a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and School Resource Officer. His leadership skills and ability to mentor his fellow officers made his transition to Sergeant seamless. Greg loved his job and loved the officers he worked with. Protecting and serving the citizens of his community was always something Greg took pride in. One could always count on Greg to lend a helping hand. If someone needed back-up or encouragement or an ear to listen or a moment of levity during a difficult time, Greg would be the first one on the scene and the last to leave. Establishing and nurturing relationships with people who came into his life was one of the most incredible traits Greg possessed. As much as Greg loved his job, the love he had for his family could not be surpassed. He showed it every single day in his actions and words. Greg is survived by his lovely wife, Lindy. "One does not have to share the roots of the tree to enjoy its shade" is a phrase that aptly describes the relationship between Lindy and Greg, but they were perfect for each other in every way that mattered. They loved each other, understood one another better than anyone had before, and they were steadfast in living the life they chose without concern for how others might perceive them. Theirs was a relationship worth emulating, full of laughter, respect and most of all love. He was also the proud father of two wonderful children, Dylon, age 12, and Gemma, age 1. Greg coached Dylon's soccer team, helped with homework, wrestled and played video games with him. He was a constant presence and supporter of everything Dylon did, and Greg was Dylon's hero. Their close relationship was undeniable. His daughter, Gemma, was the light of his life. He provided daily care for her on his days off and used all of his funny faces to make Gemma smile and laugh, which she did often. His chest was the perfect spot for her to sleep, and the warmth of his arms always comforted her. Greg's children were always at the forefront of his mind. Everything he did was for them. In conjunction with making his children a priority, Greg had great taste in women. He had the uncanny ability to maintain and foster relationships with his current and past loves. This rings so true to the man Greg was as evidenced by the fact that it would please him greatly to know that the loves of his life wrote this tribute for him together. Not only was Greg an amazing father, but he was also an incredible son and loyal friend. Throughout his life, Greg stayed in contact with friends from elementary school and high school. Even when his life or the lives of his friends got busy, he made sure to get together with his college buddies no less than every other year. He made it a priority to take a "man-cation" to Walla Walla each year for non-stop video games and a mandatory trip to Iceberg. Greg's friendships endured and were a testament to his dedication to those whom he held dear. Greg loved the outdoors. Whether he was hiking in the mountains, floating the river or taking the polar plunge into Lake Coeur d'Alene, he always took advantage of every opportunity to enjoy the beauty found in North Idaho. His competitive nature could also be seen in his love of sports. He was a Boston Red Sox fan, and to his surprise and with some resistance, he became an avid soccer fan as well. His competitive nature pushed him to be the best father, husband and police officer he could possibly be. Along with his wife and children, Greg is survived by his parents, Fred and Sherri Moore; his brother Fred Moore, Jr. and his wife Alison, and their daughters, Beth and Danyelle; his brother, Christopher Moore, his fiance, Eliza, and their daughter, Aiden, his aunt and uncle, Shannon and Dan Kilness, his cousins Jerry, Ritchie and Dawna, as well as, numerous other family members and close friends. Although the loss of Greg will never fully heal in the hearts of those that love him, we can take solace in knowing the life he lived and gave in dedicated service was not in vain.
