Helen Bushinski, was born in Modesto, California, on February 11, 1936, and passed away peacefully at the Spokane Veterans Home on December 14, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Bushinski; her parents, Waly and Alfons Pfeifer; her brothers, Emil and Fred Pfeifer; and her oldest daughter, Carol.
Helen worked in retail at the Base Exchange, Woolworth's, and Newberry's after moving to Fairchild Air Force Base in 1968 and then settling in Spokane in 1972. She was dedicated to her family and provided endless love and support to her children, grandchildren, and great–grandchildren.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Leslie and Vivian Pfeifer, and her daughters, Teresa Flett (Irv), Dianne Hall (Tony), Linda Bushinski, and Danielle Fay. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Slater and Brandon Haugen (Anna); great-grandchildren, Justin Materne (Katie), Kylee Stilson (Jordon), Levi Slater, Hailey Orton, Frankie, Phillip, and Marianna Haugen; great-great-grandchildren, McKade and Kip Materne, Dominic and Camden Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was sweet, selfless, nurturing, caring, and kind. She was always putting others before herself. She was incredibly proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching the kids play sports and participate in other activities. Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Spokane Veterans Home for the love and care they provided Helen in her final years. She was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, WA.
