Hugh LACKIE Obituary

LACKIE, Hugh Terrence "Terry"

The forever loved Hugh Terrence "Terry" Lackie passed away on October 16th, 2017 with strength, determination and courage. Terry was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, business partner, and friend. He lived his life surrounded by family and friends.
Terry was a proud alumnus and supporter of Gonzaga University where he met and fell in love with his treasured partner of 47 years, Kathleen Beck Lackie.
He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Bronze Star. Upon his return, he graduated from Gonzaga Law School, became a partner at Evans, Craven & Lackie, and was a reputable, well-respected lawyer for 45 years. He was a wonderful mentor and teacher to many, including seven years as a professor of business law at Gonzaga in Florence, Italy.
Terry was an active community member, took advantage of every moment, and made everyone he met feel special. He loved to laugh and continually learn. He was an avid reader, golfer, traveled the world, and enjoyed anything on the water; especially fishing with his cousins in Alaska, finishing the "Trek Over the Top" snow machine race in Alaska, and 44 years of wonderful memories of life on Anderson Island, WA.
Terry will be missed by many, but especially by his wife Kathy; sons Patrick (Mamie) Lackie, Matthew (Bridget) Lackie; and three grandchildren Anderson, Susanna, and Eva; his siblings Aileen (Denis) Cleary, Peter (Julie) Lackie, Frank Lackie; brothers-in-law Ned Beck and Jim Beck; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10am and will be celebrated at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W. Riverside, Spokane, WA. Should anyone desire, memorial contributions can be made in his name to The House of Charity, 32 W Pacific Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201. Arrangements have been entrusted to:

So sorry to read about Terry's passing. I have not seen him since we were children, but we were cousins his Dad Lloyd and my Dad Hugh were brothers, in fact that is who he was named after. Sounds like he led a very full and happy life and I am happy for that. My condolences to the family...

Terry was a great guy and a noble American. His service in Vietnam says much about the man. I didn't know him well, but did have the pleasure of some fun golf games with him and Tom Black. Terry was still water, Tommy was a raging ocean. It was hilarious to observe the contrast between the two of them.
Terry will be missed by all who knew him.

I bumped into Terry numerous times over the years as a member of the extended Cleary family. We seemed to hit it off over a variety of topics and every time we saw each other it felt like we were picking up on an old friendship. I suspect that Terry had that impact on a lot of people. He was very thoughtful and had a genuine interest in people. He reminded me a lot of his brother-in-law Denny.

Given all our conversations I guess I somehow missed the fact that Terry had a Bronze Star. I'm sure with some of our conversations I talked about my Dad being in combat during WWII and not wanting to talk about it. It seems like a common theme with our soldiers put in this situation.

God Bless Terry, his family and his service. He will be in the Roe families thoughts and prayers. My hope is he and Denny are having a nice chat in the promised land.
