Ian D. Melton passed away on December 23, 2025. Ian was born May 3, 1986, in Bozeman, Montana, and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. After high school, his life journey took him to Hilo, Hawaii; Puyallup, Washington; and finally, to Spokane Valley, where he will be laid to rest.
Ian was a vibrant spirit who found community wherever he lived. He was known for his quick wit, jokes, and storytelling. He enjoyed gaming, cooking, and gardening. Ian saw the best in people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He lived in the present moment, embracing life with openness and heart.
Ian is survived by his parents, Thomas and Kelly Melton; his sisters, Molly and Maggie; both of his maternal grandmothers; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers.
Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery on January 2nd. Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

My condolences goes out to your whole family!! Maggie, I always told your brother to be nice to you and that you are my heart!! I adore you so much and your brother!! I am so devastated with the loss of this peacemaking giving soul!! Ian got a safety award or he was apart of the safety team at our job, so I gave him a nickname i always called him mr. Safety! Because I could never remember his name!! Bahaha i will miss seeing him and saying, hi, mister safety every day and him telling me hi, joe.. it was something I looked forward due every day.. something a lot of people don't know.I was significantly heavy and mister safety, Ian always treating me like a human being and I just want to say thank you to his parents for raising such an amazing human for not being shallow. And seeing a person for being just a person!! When I lost the first big amount of weight, he gave me a gift and it was a coat. And then, when I lost another big amount of weight, he gave me a bag to keep active to go through disk.It was just so kind of him!! It's just crazy how someone can come into your life. And literally just be your coworker. It makes such an impact. He will definitely be missed. He imprinted on my soul for life!!

Our friendship began with your first impression was: are u Hawaiian? I said no... then we did introduced ourselves. We became so cosed. U were outgoing, easygoing, always so friendly. Even when I stopped working for a while we stayed friends. U always shared treats and whatever u had. Miss u bro. May u rest ineternal pwace. Love u... gone too soon.
