James McGoldrick Obituary

McGOLDRICK, James Carroll Jr.

Liberty Lake has lost one of it's finest with the death of James Carroll McGoldrick, Jr. Born July 14, 1926, he entered into eternal life surrounded by family on September 16, 2011, from complications of pneumonia. Carroll, also called JC, was a lifelong resident of Spokane and Liberty Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents James Carroll, Sr. and Mary Danaher McGoldrick, brother Robert, and sister Margaret Sattler. He is survived by his sister Helen Christopherson, nieces Abbi Spilker, Carrie Sattler, Pat Duff, Suzette McGoldrick, Marianne Zelinski, Caren Humble, Molly Edwards and Barby Arnold, nephews Brian Sattler, Tom and George McGoldrick, and Rick Christopherson, as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews. JC attended St. Augustine's grade school, graduating from Gonzaga Prep, and the University of Washington, where he was a member of SAE fraternity. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran in the 31st Infantry "Dixie" Division/167th Regiment in the South Pacific, receiving a Bronze Star. He worked many years in the insurance industry. Those that knew him remember his quick wit and remarkable sense of humor, love of travel, intelligence and frugality! The family would like to thank Marc Shillios ARNP on the VAMC 'Blue Team' and the VA Homecare Team, caregivers Mary, Maybelle and George, caregivers at Northpointe Arbor House 'C', especially Virginia for your loving care, and the end of life care JC received at North Central Care Center. Your kindness and caring has never gone unnoticed. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Eric Orme of Heart Clinics NW for your ongoing concern for 'Jim,' as he progressed in his Parkinson's and dementia. Uncle Carroll, you will be greatly missed! The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gonzaga Prep, 1224 E. Euclid Ave Spokane, WA 99207, gprep.com; or the charity of your choice. Vigil Service Friday, September 23rd, 7pm at Hennessey's Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 24th 10 am, St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 515 W. St Thomas More Way, Spokane 99208. Interment at a later date.

Carroll, you were one of the most important people of my life. From the first day I met you, our friendship grew and we experience this incredible journey of brotherhood. I will never forget the times we spent together, the laughs, the travel, the movies, the motorcycle riding, the water skiing, and all the meals we cooked together.
You were more than a friend, you were my big brother I never had, and a second father that always welcomed me with open arms anytime into your home.
Your kindness and caring will alway be with me. Thank you so much for being a part of my life.

Love,

Todd Lund
