Janet HEDRICK Obituary
Newman Lake - With great sadness, we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandma, Sister, Nanny, and Friend, Janet Louise Hedrick, 74, from complications of a brain aneurysm.
Janet was born in Spirit Lake, ID, as one of six children to the late Josephine and Earl Lewis. After high school, she attended North Idaho College, which led to a decades-long career in banking.
In 1976, Janet married Dennis Hedrick. During their 46 years of marriage, they enjoyed camping, their German shepherd dogs, and spending time with family and friends. They were always willing to offer a helping hand and frequently opened their home to someone in need. They moved several times over the years, but eventually retired in Spokane.
Janet was preceded in death by Dennis; brothers, Mel and Doug Lewis; and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her son, David Hedrick (Joyce); grandchildren, Hank, Sam, and Juliet; brothers, Rich and Dale Lewis (Linda Brown); sister, Marilyn Murphy; brother-in-law, Keith Hedrick (Renee); 19 nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends who she considered family.
As a businesswoman, Janet was intelligent and methodical, but she also had tremendous artistic talents. Her craft room at home was beautifully appointed. She spent hours alone or with large groups of friends, skillfully creating. With a kind heart and a giving spirit, she sewed colorful blankets and pillowcases for all the children in her life and for strangers in the hospital. Her hand-crafted greeting cards were true works of art, and the dish scrubbers she crocheted are a favorite at many of our sinks. Gifts from her kitchen were also treasured - homemade jams, cookies, turkey noodle soup, and THE best ice cream cones!
Janet gave with love, and she loved her family more than anything. We are overwhelmingly grateful to have just gathered at her home for a two-week long Lewis family reunion in August. We look forward to coming together again for a celebration of her life on October 19th (time and place to be determined).

Janet and I went to Lakeland High together and we also were college roommates. She was my maid of honor. I have lots of fun memories of her she will be missed. My love to the family Melanie Holmes Hougham
