Janette Melinda Slaughter, 62, passed away March 2, 2017 at a care facility in Pocatello, Idaho. Janette was born December 23, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah daughter of Zeb Nathan and Edith Virginia Rasley Slaughter.
Janette attended Blackfoot schools graduating from
Blackfoot High School class of 1972. In high school she loved journalism and was the editor for the high school newspaper. During her first year out of high school Janette worked at the Blackfoot Morning News. After high school she went to work in Alaska at the trans-Alaskan pipeline for approximately two years. She returned to Idaho and went to work for J.A. Jones (international construction/ engineering company) at the INL. She was very talented at her occupation which took her all over the United States. Janette was a senior administrative accountant where she was in charge of the company's auditing processes. Her last project with J. A. Jones took her to Spokane, Washington and she fell in love with that area.
Janette decided to re-locate in the Spokane area and went to work in the medical equipment industry. She worked 16 years for Northern Medical which later became Norco and retired due to health reasons January 3, 2017. Along with her work interest she had many other passions. She loved golfing, traveling, and doing charity work. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Lions Club and the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW.
She is survived by her brother, Larry (Debe) Slaughter, Pocatello; niece, Natalie (Justin) Morgan, Nashville TN; nephew, Logan Slaughter, Portland OR; great-nephew, Kenshin Morgan, Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her father, Zeb Slaughter; and her mother, Edith Slaughter Eversole.
Her family would like to especially thank Encompass Hospice for their kindness and compassion, and all of her friends at Norco in Spokane Washington. As per her wishes Janette will be cremated with a memorial service to be held in Chewelah, Washington later this summer.
