Jason WEST Obituary

June 2, 1978 – May 23, 2025

Jason Ryan West, 46, of Spokane, WA, passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2025.

Born in Spokane on June 2, 1978, Jason was the beloved youngest son of Michael and Pamela West. He grew up in Deer Park, WA, and attended Riverside schools from kindergarten through graduation at Riverside High School in Chattaroy, WA.

After graduating from Riverside High School in 1996, Jason followed in his father, Mike's, footsteps and began his career at U.S. West Communications, which later became Qwest Communications and eventually merged with Centurylink. He spent over 23 years working for Centurylink before retiring and moving on to other roles in the telecommunications infrastructure industry. Jason was extremely talented in his chosen field and brought dedication, skill, and a calm presence to every role he had. He was known not just for his work ethic, but for the easygoing, welcoming nature he brought into every room - and every breakroom.

Jason was a man of adrenaline and joy. He loved anything fast - from dirt bikes to snowmobiles to cars. He was an audiophile who delighted in building sound systems and a lifelong fan of football, car racing, and motocross - especially when watching alongside his dad.

To know Jason was to feel at ease. His easy laugh, open door, and love of gathering people together made his home a hub for friends and family. Many remember afternoons spent at his place during the early years with his first wife, watching the kids ride four-wheelers and motorcycles, surrounded by laughter and connection.

He was adventurous, fearless, and determined. Whether launching off a jump or carving through untouched snow, Jason chased the thrill of living boldly - not recklessly, but fully. That same spirit carried through into all areas of his life, a quality that left a mark on everyone who knew him.

Jason is survived by his children, Ryan and Tayler West; his parents, Michael and Pamela West; his sister, Dana (Jeremy) Rinauro; his brother, Trace (Jessica) West; his maternal grandmother, Helen Coberly; his ex-wife, Kathrine Best; his former fiancée, Lachelle Bucher; and Lachelle's children, Nolan and Sophie Bucher. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.

A memorial service will be held on June 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane, WA.

Today, as we say goodbye, we also say: Jason, you mattered. You were a part of our lives. You made us laugh, challenged us, and reminded us to hold on tight because, like your favorite ride, life moves fast.
