Jerald Haslett Obituary

Jerry Haslett passes away unexpectedly at his home in the early morning hours of February 9, 2017. He was born June 1, 1940 in Sagle, Idaho & lived most of his life in Eastern Washington, most recently in Cheney. Jerry was a loving nephew, husband, father, stepfather, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather. He always had a smile and a funny remark to share. In the late 1950's, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Hanford, WA and Germany. As a young father in the 1960's he went to work for the Washington State Department of Licensing. By the time he retired 31 years later, he was a Regional Manager for Eastern Washington. After retiring from the DOL, he worked as a General Contractor. He took pride in his work and was a craftsman wood worker. He also enjoyed photographing the multiple species of wild life near his home at Badger Lake and fishing, camping, cooking, motorcycle riding. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved wife, Judy. He was just about the best neighbor and friend anyone could hope for, and he will be missed by many. He is survived by his Aunt Rosalie Knabe, wife Judy Haslett, son Craig Haslett, daughter-in-law Stephanie Burkhalter, daughter & son-in-law Teresa & Craig Clement, Stepson Matthew Boe, grandchildren Kathy Braken, Andrew, Aaron, Megan Clement and great-grandchildren Grayson and Gideon Clement. A memorial will be held at Badger Lake Estates on June 24, 2017.

I worked with Jerry in 1983 at the Bellevue Driver Licensing Office. He was the best manager one could ask for, he was always supportive positive and funny. I remember his big ole Chrysler he used to drive around. Thank you for everything you did for me.

You taught me so much, including to care about others and to do what I can to take care of those in need without expecting anything in return. I'm grateful for everything you taught me, I was listening even when you thought I wasn't.
I'm proud to be your daughter, I'll always be Daddy's girl. I love you and miss you so much every day and always will.

Sorry to your family and friends. My folks, Fred and Ida McLain on Gardner Avenue, use to watch Craig when he was little. I was just thinking of all of you the other day and wondered how you all are. One time we were all going to the lake and Jerry had a Sugar Baby sucker in this mouth. He went to pull it out and his dentures were stuck to it. Talk about funny and what a great laugh. Also made jam at the house by Audubon Park and the pressure cooker blew up and there were strawberries everywhere. He was very calm about having to fix the hole in the kitchen and help clean up and repaint the kitchen. Love and prayers to all. It's been years!

I really miss you Dad! Your wit, your charm, your advice (often confused with 'preaching ') and your sense of humor were all well noted and I, as your son, will continue to dazzle the world with all that you instilled in me! I love you SO much and rest well each night knowing that you knew how much I loved you and how proud I have ALWAYS been to call you Dad! Thank you for EVERYTHING! ❤

Judy,
Linda and I share our prayers and condolences for you and your family. Jerry always made it a point to stay in contact keeping us updated on picnics and the status of our past friends who we worked with in DOL. Jerry was always outgoing and friendly as a coworker and I always enjoyed his great outlook on life. Jerry will be missed by us all.

I have the fondest memories of Jerry. He and Judy took myself and 5 of the Residents fishing on there Pontoon boat. He made a dream for those residents. They even cleaned the fish and we had a fish fry at work. He had a big heart and warm
smile. He will be missed by all.

I remember the first time I met you and how much you were like our dad. You were always their to give me advice when others would not. You made my sister smile and feel loved and cherished. The world would be a much better place if everyone was as good of a friend and neighbor as Jerry was. He loved to visit and he looked out for everyone. The coaster sets he made us out of our tree that was lost will now be extra cherished by our family. The world lost a great man and we are very saddened, but we know that he is enjoying himself and we will see him again.
