Steve passed away quietly on November 23, 2025, after a long illness. He was born in Spokane to the late J. Stuart and Arline Barratt. He lived most of his life in the Spokane area until fulfilling his dream of purchasing land and building his 'dream home' on acreage outside of Cheney. Over the years, he formed many, many strong friendships and was well-loved by those who knew him.
During his lifetime, he enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing and spending time with life-long friends. He was an avid reader and considered his many dogs as his bonus children. Monthly, Steve quietly donated to various local service organizations often reciting "there but for the grace of God go I."
Steve is survived by his children, Brenda (Kathy), Shannon, Rob; his granddaughter, Natalie (Lance); great-granddaughter, Noelle; and one brother, Brent (Connie). He was Uncle Chief to numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his sister Judy Henderson and her husband, Clay.
A celebration of life is being planned for early 2026, details forthcoming.
