Josie FREIER Obituary

FREIER, Josie Kristine "Jo Jo" Josie (Jo Jo) Kristine Freier is with the Lord. Someone told me today that we wait for her in sorrow, while she waits for us in joy. She lived her life of 15 years as a person on a mission to laugh and love. Jo Jo has a profound sense of right and wrong. She hated bullies and would often scold them in public. Jo Jo loves Christmas and not because she got presents but because she could give them. Every year she loves to work at the Toys for Tots (T4T) warehouse and the Marine Corps League T4T fund raiser. She would get to be Santa for a child that needed help. If you want to be like Jo Jo you may donate a toy in her name. Please take it to your local Spokane Valley Fire Station. You may leave a note for Jo Jo or the family. Jo Jo loves her family. She is very close to her youngest sister, Jessica. They would play soccer for hours in the back yard or in the driveway. They picked at each other in a way that only close sisters can do. Jo Jo's oldest sister, Julia, and she were often confused to be twins. This is a little bit funny because Jo Jo is taller than Julia. They did everything together. Coffee after school, shopping at the mall, they even played on the same soccer team the past few years. Jo Jo also loves her grandparents, Bob and Suzanne Lonn. They dyed Easter eggs together and would hide them in the yard for each other, making pancakes in the morning, baking cookies in the afternoon, and they loved to play games together. Her Uncle Dallas was very close to her as well. He let her ride his horse and even tried to take her to a Maroon Five concert; it was cancelled because of weather. Jo Jo is everything to her mother, Kristin, and father, Rick. They would not always see eye to eye, but Jo Jo was quick to make up. Jo Jo is an amazing child. She never got in trouble at school. Well, there was that one time when she had to see the counselor because she used a spelling word in a sentence, long story. She has a lot of good friends, including McKenzie Mott. They met playing soccer and grew very close over the last two years. There are many other family members and friends that were an active part of her life. One of Jo Jo's favorite quotes was from Winnie-the-Pooh - "Can't we go back to page one and do it all over again?" She chose that as the message to her big sister, Julia, when she graduated from high school. I speak for the whole family when I say that we would all go back and do it again even though we know how it ends here on Earth. A celebration of Jo Jo's life will be held Friday, October 11th, at 1:00 pm at Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. Memorials may be given at any CHASE BANK to a bereavement account that has been set up in Josie Freier's name. Please take time to visit www.hazenjaegervalley.com to share your thoughts and memories with our family.

Dear Jo Jo please say hello to my precious Brother in Heaven, what an amazing brother he was and will always be like you are to your sisters, and family I lost my Brother in a tragic car accident at the age of 19 a life filled with a mission like you. Your a beautiful young lady and I know God needed you in Heaven to help with all the children that mommies and Daddies miss. You sound strong, confident and have such an amazing love for others, and you proved that here on Earth. In time your family will see you again, I pray for their healing, and I know their pain. We are so lost here but we need to hold on to our faith and know that there is a greater joy and you now know!
God Bless you and I pray we all carry the torch for Toys for Tots in memory of you. I pray for strength for your family that they will continue to keep loving one another and be strong in memory of you.

Josie, I don't ever remember a time where you didn't have a smile on your face. You would come into the room and it would just brighten up! We might not have been best friends but we were good friends! I always loved talking to you! You were the nicest, sweetest, and always so caring! I sit in class looking at your seat thinking why? Why did you have to leave? I just can't grasp knowing you really are gone, I don't want to believe it. You truely touched so many peoples lives it's unreal! You will be remembered by lots of people and I can promise that! I know you will never be forgotten ever! You have the biggest heart! I believe that you are watching over all of us in the sky! A parent should never out live their child. I will live life like Josie would. ? I love you Josie. Rest in Paradise.

My daughter Lizzy sat in front of Jo Jo in first period and was in the same classrooms as her for all six years at South Pines. I volunteered time in the classrooms and got to spend time around Jo Jo and her family, and the thing that stands out the most for me was how close they were as a family. I'm sure that's why Jo Jo was so open and inclusive...she never refused to play with anyone, even the hardest kids to get along with. She was warm, silly, caring, and open. I can see why there is such an outpouring of emotion at her passing. I will always remember the way her eyes crinkled when she smiled and those freckles across her nose, and how excited she was to be the big sister when Jessica came to their home. I hope that all these memories of your beautiful angel comfort you and help you realize she will live in the hearts and minds of so many...you have our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy for your devastating loss.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Our daughters attended U-High together. They had played on opposing basketball teams in middle school. Your daughter at Bowdish, mine at North Pines. They seemed to form a bit of a rivalry with each other. Knowing they were going to end up at U-High together, I had told my daughter that I had a feeling they had a lot in common and watch them end up being friends. Sure enough, when they were Freshmen, they had a few classes together and before long, they were pretty good friends at school and my daughter considered Jo Jo a close friend. Our entire family sends our love and prayers for God to ease your pain.

Kristin, Rick, Julia and Jessica, I can't even begin to imagine the pain that you are feeling at this time. As a parent we hope and pray that our kids are good members of society, doing good and being good. There is no question that Jo Jo was just that, Good! Ryann had so many good times and great memories with Josie and is left with an empty space in her heart, we all are. To know that Josie's spirit will forever be present gives us some peace. I wish I could answer the "why?" question, what I choose to believe is that God has a special project and he needed the perfect angles, and so he called on Josie and McKenzie. Please know that the community mourns with you, and that your precious Jo Jo will never be forgotten but forever remembered, loved and missed by so many people.

Love,
Mike, Kelli, Taylor & Ryann
