Judith LAMONT Obituary

Judith Lou LaMont was a spunky woman with an absolute zest for life! Her plethora of nicknames given to her by those she adored most depict her fun-loving personality! Most commonly known as "Dune," she was born on August 31, 1938, in Seattle, Washington, to Delfer and Louise Jackson. According to Dune, they often referred to her as "Suzy Creamcheese," having been the most perfect, innocent, only child!

Dune's intelligence earned her the title of "Grammar Police," as she was always correcting those who didn't speak English well (the irony!). She grew up in West Seattle and attended West Seattle High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in English with a teaching degree (oh how she would have loved to 'correct' her obituary!)

Arguably, her best title was "Ma." She was married to Carl Huber in 1961 for 14 years and together they had two children. Their son Chuck was born in 1962 and their daughter Alyson was born in 1963. In 1979, "Jude" met and married the love of her life, Steven LaMont, better known as "Papa," and inherited his seven children! Yes, The LaMonts could have started their football team!

With her new, honorable name of "Mrs. LaMont," she moved to Vancouver in 1987. There she began her teaching career at the skills center, sharing her expertise on courses in business and the medical field. Working with her bestie, Val, she loved her pupils and expanding the minds of aspiring, young students!

In 2002 "Papa Steve and Nana Dune" moved to Spokane, Washington. They built a house in Colbert with picturesque views of the mountains, where she could revel in the "beauuuutiful" sunsets. The neighborhood dubbed her "Mrs. Kravits," as she was always staring out her windows, keeping a watchful eye on the residents of Kirk Lane. She was the respected and beloved neighborhood watch committee!

"Judy the Volunteer" volunteered a lot of her time at Shriners, Hoopfest, and her church, St. Luke's Lutheran. She was revered by the church community, gracefully helping out on Sundays with Papa and tutoring children at after-school programs. She loved the Lord with her entire soul!

Our crazy, wonderful, "Duney" was blessed with two children, seven stepchildren, twenty-five grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren whom she loved very much and who will miss her immensely! She was adored by so many, respected by so many, and will be remembered for her positive attitude, kind words, humble personality, and non-judgmental insights. As she would say, "Life is Good!"
