Judith WENTLING Obituary

Judy was born December 27, 1941, in Conrad, Montana, to Nelson and Beva (Lester) Bingham. She attended school in the Shelby, Montana area up through high school.

Judy was married first to John Pat Hurley and later to Gary L. Wentling, and together they had eight children. Judy and Pat lived in various communities throughout Montana. She supported her family through a range of endeavors, including selling Tupperware and Sara Coventry jewelry. Additionally, she worked as a typist for the state legislature in Helena, Montana.

In 1969, the Hurley family relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, where Judy worked for Providence Hospital and ITT White Alice Sites. In 1974, she married Gary L. Wentling and continued her career with the Municipality of Anchorage People Mover Transit System until 1986. Judy returned to school earning a Technical Computer degree and taught computer classes at MILA until her family moved to Fairbanks in 1991.

In Fairbanks, she worked for Phil Younkers Investment and helped establish Plumfield, the area's first assisted living and supportive care residence with Jean Bogusch.

After retiring, Judy and Gary moved to Spokane, Washington, in 1995, where they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Following the passing of her father, Judy took on caregiving roles for her mother, her cousin, Larry Roberts, as well as her Aunt Pauline and Uncle Jack Lester.

Judy had a deep passion for music, playing several instruments, with the piano being her favorite. She played and taught piano for over 75 years, performing for more than 20 years at both Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Anchorage and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Spokane. In addition to music, Judy enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and crafting. Known as the "slot machine queen," she often won enough at the casino to keep her returning.

Judy is survived by her husband, Gary Wentling; her children, Deborah, Patrick (Annmarie), Bev (Joe) St. Sauver, Mike (Mary), Mark (Lori) Hurley, C.B. (Tiffany), and Dana (Brandy) Wentling, and Tammy (Owen) Williams; as well as her sister, Carol; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Tenney; and her former husband, Pat Hurley.

Services will be held January 30, at the Heritage Funeral Home, located at 508 Government Way, Spokane, Washington. Viewing will be 10am-12:30pm, followed by funeral service at 1pm, with graveside burial immediately following.
